Unfortunately with the lozenge lines, it tends to clutter the screen with an already busy background behind it (at least with certain camera angles) with all of the stage details. As a designer, I think it was a hard but good decision to remove them.
Only major thing I object to is when it shows the combined view of the bank and round 1 questions remaining. The lozenge for the bank fading off into zero alpha looks like an afterthought.
