Have you tried to contact Andy Walmsley, the designer of the Millionaire set? Since he designed the set, he must know which screens were used as they were the same in nearly every country. I got in touch with him a few years ago about the work he has done on Pop Idol and he was really nice and helpful. I'm sure he will tell you the model of the screens if he knows it. By the way, here is his page about Millionaire: www.andywalmsley.com/millionaire.phpIdolsfan

OMG HE RESPONDED BACK TO ME!!!I emailed Andy earlier this morning and this was our conversation. MEDear Mr. Walmsley, I hope you are enjoying your day, and this e-mail finds you well. I have a been a fan of 'Millionaire' since I was a teenager. Now that I'm older, I've started to recreate some props of my favorite game shows, including 'Millionaire.' I have a few questions regarding the design of the Hot Seat. I'm attempting to build a 1:1 replica, as seen in the pictures below, and I am hoping to see if you might give an in-depth explanation of the Hot Seat's design? I was planning to start this project at the beginning of January 2014. I have also attached a photo my version of the Hot Seat to show you that I'm serious about recreating it. If you can get back to me, I would really appreciate it. Thank you taking the time to read this e-mail. Sincerely, Davira KuyANDY WALMSLEYHi Davira That looks AMAZING...great work congrats. Here is where I bought the chairs from: www.lsehair.com/salon-furniture/styling-chairs/arco-wood-pietranera/ We simply made an extended stem and a custom foot rest. GREAT WORK send me more pics when you are done - a MEHi Andy, Thank you so much for your compliments on my version of your Hot Seat. You have no idea how much that means to me. Can you give me more information about the center podium that holds the contestant and host screens? That is where I am having trouble a this time. My podium is not balanced correctly, causing the podium to potentially tip over (which has happened a couple of times.) What do you suggest to balance the center podium and make it sturdy? Thank you, DaviraP.S. I have also enclosed a link containing photos of out original build. ANDY WALMSLEYIt just needs to be bottom heavy. Add weight to the inside of the base domeME
I'm not sure if you saw the link to the build, was there anything you suggest to make it look more like the real one? If feel like our Hot Seat is very flimsy compared to yours. If you are allowed to, would you be able and/or willing to send any schematics for the center podium? ANDY WALMSLEYI would love to but they where drawn pencil on paper over 14 years ago before i moved to the USA and before I went fully computerized. I don't have the drawings any moreMEAw, that's too bad. If you end up remembering the design, or obtain information regarding the center podium from any of your sources or contacts, any help would be grateful. I want to thank you for taking the time to respond to me with your kind words of encouragement. If you would like to see other props and game show parodies, please feel free to take a look and like my Facebook game show page.Thank you, Davira

Someone should open up a Millionaire themed salon with those chairs and call the establishment Who Wants To Get A New Haircut.

Customer sits down. Lights fade on the customer. *Lx cue*
Barber: "How much do you want off the top?" *Heartbeat plays*
Customer: "About an inch" *Final Answer cue*
<20 minutes later>
Customer: "Looks good!" *$16,000 Win plays*
Customer pays and walks out the door *Goodbye to Contestant cue*

I knew that the hot seat chairs were these salon chairs. I contacted the distributor a few months ago to know how much they cost and this is what he replied to me: when I saw the chairs on the website, I thought I would buy one someday as a desk chair (I always imagined myself working on the millionaire hot seat! ^^) but when I received the mail with the prices my imagination stopped working, €800 (or nearly $1,100) for a chair is really expensive, you would have to win Q15 to be able to afford buying more than one! HOT SEAT UPDATE: I finally got a matching pair of monitors. 2 HP 2159m widescreen monitors. I'll have to see if I can mod the monitors by getting the back panels painted a muted silver. Thoughts?

BUMP-ITY BUMP BUMP As the days count down to our big show, we did some more work on the Hot Seat. The back panels of the monitors have an aluminum paint finish.

I hope you don't mind me asking, but how much time and money did it cost to do what you have so far?
