I had one of the worst experiences at a McDonald's. I had a late shift from work last night and I wanted something quick. It ended taking longer from the lack of professionalism from the team that evening. Starting with the person who rung us up was polite enough with us, but when speaking with colleague with vulgar language loud enough for customers to hear, it's not the image and welcoming atmosphere that I would expect from a McDonald's. Certain employees from the the back were also being discriminatory to a customer due to their height and was also referring to a colleague. I understand a little bit of joking around, but that joking was a little excessive. What made the last straw for me though, was that they dropped my food, and still offered to give it to me as an extra. Not only was I offended, but was appalled for the lack of seriousness in the matter. OFFERING DROPPED FOOD IS A MAJOR HEALTH CODE VIOLATION!! I really insist that those employees be reprimanded for their lack of professionalism.
This has been sent to corporate, and I will be expecting a response. If I do not hear from them, I will be taking this to social media. Thoughts?

That seems like a scene from an 80's sitcom, but in all seriousness, it's just not acceptable from a household name like McDonalds, and being discrimanating should result in those employees involved given the sack, in my opinion. I have a story of laziness that me and my family encountered in a well-known supermarket that I will not name. We bought our shopping and went to the till, all fine, everything went through ok, and the cashier was nice enough, but very lazy... Our goods came to about £19.95 or something like that, and we paid with a £20 note, 5p change, simple, right? WRONG! The cashier had to get A CALCULATOR out to work out the change that needed to be given! It was quite amusing really. But shops and resturants are getting a bit like that recently, I have to admit. A couple of weeks ago, my and my Grandparents went for a meal, and the place was packed to bursting! (Thank goodness we booked...) and they had 4 members of staff working that day, one of whom was a trainee. To make matters worse, my Nan had to go and see her friend, and it took about 2hrs to have a main and a dessert. But at least our food wasn't dropped on the floor, I can't believed they offered it to you as well, who knows how many people have walked there!

McDonald's employs mostly minimum wage street hires who are just there for a pay check. Not to insult any honest wage earners who seek advancement within the company, but if your bar of expectations is anything above this then you have it set too high.
That being said, most if not all McDonald's are franchised so your complaint is likely to be bounced around before it finally reaches someone who may or may not care. The most direct method of communicating with them is through certified mail with a return receipt, but you have to be willing to spend $6.50 to send your complaint that route. At minimum, you'd have an original signature from someone at corporate proving they received your complaint.
Social Media will likely not return results. McDonald's is complained about on social media about as much as politicians are, so it won't come as a surprise to anyone. If you want to make things inconvenient for them, you can complain to the Department of Health. I guarantee they will investigate and conduct a health safety review of the restaurant within a few days after receiving a complaint that food dropped on the floor is being offered to customers.
Before going any further, ask yourself what your desired outcome is. Keep in mind that reprimand for health safety violations is usually immediate termination of the offender. Whether you believe that is justified in this case is entirely up to you.

Well, I went back to the McDonald's where that incident happened to see if any improvements have been made. To my surprise, the staff's tone has changed DRASTICALLY. I also came home to a voice-mail from McDonald's telling that they received my complaint, and immediately informed the Regional Supervisor, and Director of Operations to rectify the issues with the management and staff from that evening.
Thank you McDonald's for standing for what's right.

I can't believe that! In the UK, An employee dropped my portion of fries so kindly offered me another set on the house. Just because one worker is not proffessional doesnt mean that all other Mcdonald's workers are not kind hearted. However I agree with you and am glad that you got it sorted!!!
