I've been hearing about this film that's coming out in January, it's called 'Slumdog Millionaire' or something like that.. I've only seen some of the adverts, but it's obviously based around WWTBAM - I think it's based off 'Kaun Bangea Crorepati' (the Indian version) but that's all I know. Only trouble is, it's rated 15 so I can't really see it just yet... can anyone elaborate on all this?

It's an Indian film about a man who goes on Millionaire to get the attention of a young woman he's in love with, only to go on and actually win the million dollars. The questions in his game all relate to the adventures he has throughout his life.
It's an award-winning film that's getting lots of good reviews. I imagine it will boost the worldwide popularity of Millionaire, too!

That's what I've heard, anyhow. By the way, there are a few mistakes: the host calls the show 'Who Wants To Be A Millionaire', not 'Kaun Bangea Crorepati' as it should've been - that also means that the top prize is 2 million rupees, not 2 crore... also, did anyone notice that the $250,000 music cues are used on the 14th question and all? <- oh never mind, that was clearly the 13th question. Other than that, sounds alright I suppose..

Hey! I find that the main character has to go to jail because he cheated! That's a shame! Wait! I was simply misinformed! I find that he was caught by the police for something other than cheating - in fact the film ends after the main character wins the game.. |

It's actually based off a novel titled "Q&A". Jamal (the protagonist) was accused of cheating by the host. The UK coughing scandal is even quoted in one of the lines.

Just gonna pull you up on that; from what I've seen through promotional media etc. it seems it's referred to as Crorepati (right down to the KBC logo outside the studio) in the Indian release of the film, and Millionaire in the international release. |
