What I'd like to know is when "final answer" became the definitive lock-in. You hear it occasionally in these first few episodes, but not with any regularity. I think it's when the contestant says they're going to play the question and then the answer they wish to choose.

Now what I thought to be mistakes on the album, I see seems to have been intentional. Q5 and 10 wins go directly into the lights down cue for the following question without the proper "finish." Know what I mean?

I've also noticed that "Into the Hotseat" cue in the first series the horns in this cue weren't present in the first half.

You will upload some of the episodes of Series 2 of Millionaire, pylguy? I say some of, since they will air all, but Episode 2 which is not available actually (Aired January 2, 1999).

Yes, I have series 2 setup to record, I have a lot of exams this week so may upload all the episodes on Friday night.

You might not hear the differences in first place, you should compare the two versions of the "Hot Seat Crossover/Into the Hot Seat/Let's Play" cue; the one you might come across in the official album and the one heard in the 1st Series episodes (although the applause may cause some difficulty). During the 1st series if you listen carefully, the cue featured only the chorus in the first half of the cue but it didn't feature synthesized horns as it was added later for the 2nd series and beyond the whole franchise. If you don't know what I mean, we might end this conversation and carry on.

I think Paul is saying that when Graham Elwell or any contestant who won at FFF in the first serie of WWTBAM, if you hear carefully, the cue used for "Hotseat Crossover" was clearly the same has the one we know today but without the horns on the begining. An audio extrait is way better => WWTBAM - First Serie - Hotseat Crossover [1998] And now listen the actual => WWTBAM - Hotseat Crossover
N-B => I degraded the quality for protection.

The only difference I hear in those cues is that it starts halfway through the upward drumroll at the very start of the cue. I don't hear any difference with horns, though.

Since we're on the topic of different cues, another one that was different was the Who Was Correct cue (the one played when the winners of FFF are shown). The last note is missing.

Know what I mean? I think that's more of the audio operator than it is of the cues. Remember that the show had 2 computers going for the music, so one cue would have to be stopped with the next one being played. Overlapping cues and pieces being cut short seem more to be the result of the operator's actions. If you listen closely, the Q5 win cue does actually have a proper finish. Since we are mentioning these cues, the Q5 and Q10 wins are different: they have a different start. These cues have the drum beginning from the Hotseat Intro music. The current cues omit that.

Yeah, I didn't know what they were talking about with horns. But I also can't hear what you're talking about either. Watching episode 4 right now and I'm not hearing it. Maybe it's just my hearing, though.

This is what I mean: listen to this. The first clip you hear is how the Q5 and Q10 wins started off in the first show. the 2nd clip is how they currently sound.
