Hello Millionaire Fans! I'm Mark.
I've been introduced to WWTBAM quite a few years ago by finding John Carpenter's million dollar moment on Youtube. We don't get WWTBAM here, so I try my best at keeping up with Millionaire by means of Youtube, some old websites with full recaps (such as Loogaroo's and the alt-tv-game-shows recaps), and this forum. Yeah, I've been lurking this forum for a year or so, and only now decided to register after seeing that some members have discovered the Millionaire Wikia. I didn't really want to bring the wiki up here (thought it could count as self-promotion), but considering the current situation, I might as well do so.
I've been an editor at the Millionaire Wikia since mid 2012. I've never prided myself on being a regular editor (in fact, you guys caught me during one of my usual breaks), but I've gotten sysop permissions on November 2014 by means of adoption, back when I was sole editor. I've since added pages for all contestants during the UK Series 1, 2 (almost done with the 3rd one), all contestant's runs at Loogaroo (that site has been on brink of closing for a long time, so it was a bit urgent), most US and UK top prize winners and $/£500,000 winners, and some other relevant/important pages.
I've also attended a Visual Basic and Visual FoxPro course during 2013, and during that time, developed an application that lets me create a contestant's page (infobox, short bio, questions, lifeline usage, video links, etc.) while simultaneously playing the contestant's video on the background. It is a WYSIWYG type of app and it outputs the contestant's full run and info as wikicode, so it is matter of copying and pasting this wikicode into the page. It is quite handy, especially if the contestant's run is long.
Furthermore, by using IceMetalPunk’s IMPClipboard DLL (you can look it up on Google), I've also developed an application that lets me automagically delete the black borders around a contestant's profile picture and save it if I am only able to find said picture in a Youtube video with black borders (e.g. 4:3 videos turn into unstretched 16:9 videos, so black borders are added); it's super simple, I just screencap a nice picture of the contestant at the FFF section or somewhere else, paste it on the app, and it does the rest of the work for me. Unfortunalety, I have to manually set up the picture borders before firing up the app, but most of the time, the uploaders tend to stick with the same video size for all their uploads, so it's a one size fits all thing. This was made with GameMaker 8.1 (because why not? I've used it since early 2009).
Sorry for the wall of text, so if you are still here, here are some pictures! It's Millionator working name , the program I use to create the contestants' pages, and, uh, PictureCroppingMadeEasy? i just totally made this up right now
I’ll try and release Millionator soon so you guys can use it to create more pages at the wiki, but first, I gotta tweak some stuff, as I originally did not intend to distribute it. However, PictureCroppingMadeEasy is on hold, as it is primarily based on IceMetalPunk’s work, but I think it’ll be fine (the DLL has been released to the public).
In any case, hope I see ya in the wiki, and I hope I have a great time here with you Millionaire Fans!
Mark
