I'll leave this here for you to read.... Is Aus Channel Nine on the desperate measures to save their "pre-newsheadline" show against their rival on Seven? Next year, we might see a revamped version of the Millionaire Hot Seat as they plan to extend the show from the regular stripped 30 minutes to an hour in a bid to save the show and heat up the battle against the rival game show "The Chase Australia" And it intrigues me a lot that somehow on the manner of how will they be able to tweak the Hot Seat format to have more questions and "new strategies" and new lifelines. I'm looking forward to how they'll do it. The Link

... The only way that the show could be revamped from 30 to 60 is if they bring back lifeline usage for each player and raise the time clock limit.
You would've thought that with the Millionaire win during the middle of the summer that the ratings would've helped. Or maybe this is the help that they're getting?

I don't really see the Hot Seat format working with hour-long episodes. Especially the claim that there will be more questions suggests to me that they might do away with it. How should "more questions" work when six contestants share one money tree? Obviously they could create a 20 question path to the million, but that makes little sense. Or they introduce "Switch the question" and fool everyone. I hope not. I'm looking forward to the changes, but I'm a little skeptical that they might over-gimmick it.

Will need to keep an eye out for details. I bet more info will be release during the Test Match Cricket season by the commentators as they normally do with other shows coming to 9 in the new year.

We're assuming they are just tweaking the hotseat format. What if they are bringing back classic millionaire in some form?

I hope they bring back classic Millionaire! To me, the hot seat format is just ruining the franchise from the inside out!

Here is a fairly uninformative promo from 9.

Here is a fairly uninformative promo from 9. Why am I think it's more or less a giant "Double Dare" like game. (Both Trebek and Summers...) I'm tempted to watch it just to see how bad it's going to be.

They should broadcast another day after Monday for example Monday and Friday like Germany did.

They should broadcast another day after Monday for example Monday and Friday like Germany did. It's a weekday show. It'll still be on Monday to Friday, only its timeslot will be expanded. Yes, a buzzer is what's been missing from Hotseat all this time... Unless the buzzer isn't the elemental new gimmick, in which case the promo is horse dung. Wherefore art thou, content?

I don't know how a buzzer can be incorporated into Hotseat.

Just saw the new promo, am think the buzzer is a reference to the fact that... THEY ARE BRINGING BACK FFF I thought the link to the article was posted here, but I guess I found it myself a couple of days ago: This explains some of the new rules. So apparently there are two rounds of FFF now. The winner gets a shot at the million and $500, which they can use to buy one out of three lifelines: Swap the Question, Ask the Audience of Fifty-Fifty. So why do they get the $500 in the first place? It's not like anybody would pass on a lifeline for $500. I don't know how reliable the source is, though. It sounds a little too confused and pointless, at least the way they present it. How about putting the rules in the promo? Even when US Millionaire teased the Shuffle format, they put in a little bit of information. But no, looking at people jumping at a buzzer is much better. Honestly, TV people...
