The sooner it's gone, the better. If it goes off the air, there is a chance we'll get a decent version of Millionaire in Australia again sometime in the future.

Trying to fight "The Chase" with "Millionaire" in any form would be like trying to fight "Millionaire" with "The Price is Right" back in 1999.

I was never a fan of Hot Seat anyways, but I am glad we got to see a $1m winner under this format. Given how well U.S. Millionaire has been faring as of late, I have to think that if Channel 9 revived the classic format, it would get back up there in terms of ratings. Or at least, anything that utilizes Ask the Audience.

Yeah, I'd have to agree with you there. Hot Seat was never the best format for the show, and when The Chase Australia debuted in September 2015, the foundation just started to crack. It didn't help that they had to extend the show to a full hour and add a rather pointless Fastest Finger First segment which grinded the show to a halt.

Good riddance. The hot seat format was a failure to begin with. To describe what i think about this format, let me recite a famous quote from the AVGN.
WHAT WERE THEY THINKING?!
--------------------- EDIT: I will be honest though, i was only able to see the first episode of the FFF season online. Whenever Hot Seat is on tv here in NZ, its just a repeat of last season.

Not to mention Hot Seat was already hard enough to follow. For instance, does a wrong answer constitute a pass if the contestant has it? It took me up until the "pecan" incident to figure out that no, a wrong answer gives you the boot, as always. But now that I know that, if they're over the $1000 benchmark and the contestant gives a wrong answer, does he leave with the $1000? It seems very unfair that only one of the six contestants could win something.

They're only given money if they are the FFF winner and didn't buy the lifeline or if they are the last surviving contestant at any point past $1000.

The problem is that I believe Australia has passed the nightly gameshow era. Gone are the days when you could sit down on a Monday night (from memory) and watch a good game of classic Millionaire. Now we are just bombarded with reality TV crap. If Hot Seat goes, which I hope it doesn't, I doubt they'll bring back the classic version. I actually don't even know how Hot Seat has ran this long! I was excited to see a revamp but having 15 questions of FFF is just too much; they should've just had 5 max then got on with the show. The fact that you can only "buy" ONE lifeline is crap too.. for $1,000! They could've had 4 lifelines (ATA, 50/50, PAF and Switch) and made the contestant pay $250 for each one or something. I don't know. I just feel that it's all gone to crap now. If they bring back a classic version, have a timer, bring back the original music and dump the horrible Hot Seat cues, change the lighting so it's more suspenseful, and keep the lifelines! Why they even introduced Hot Seat I'll never know haha the 2007 version was great!

I think the reason why Nine didn't bring back the classic format in the revamp this year, is because I recall that they did trial the classic format before the News many years ago and it didn't rate very well. Here's a promo for when they did it at the time youtu.be/hg8pYm5S6UE

Oh wow, back then was it an hour long show? Or half an hour? I really miss the classic version. There's something about the show that is nostalgic.. I think? I dunno haha. But yeah I wouldn't mind going down to Melbourne to visit a taping of the show (if it is on the way out)

But traditionally it was on Mondays 8:30 for an hour

Oh ok cool, thanks for that 😀 I guess time will tell as to what will happen with Hot Seat. I do believe they should've incorporated the ATA lifeline, at least it would've made it more interesting. Ask a friend is just stupid lol

Ask a friend is just stupid lol Agreed, if they did something like Plus One it would work a lot better. The Switch is the most used lifeline AFAIK from the three that are available.

Ask a friend is just stupid lol That's how ask a friend is supposed to be, the Plus One. (Just they're bringing in bad friends...) I REALLY hate the rule that if you eve look in their direction, it counts as an automatic use.
