I was never a fan of Hot Seat anyways, but I am glad we got to see a $1m winner under this format. Given how well U.S. Millionaire has been faring as of late, I have to think that if Channel 9 revived the classic format, it would get back up there in terms of ratings. Or at least, anything that utilizes Ask the Audience. In your opinion, what do you attribute the U.S. Millionaire's recent ratings bump to? Do you think it's because of Chris Harrison and some Bachelor fans watching the show? Could it be that as the 20th anniversary approaches people are having a renewed interest in the show? Maybe because they are back to the classic format? Anyone that has input is welcome to answer!

Chris is an excellent host from what I've watched, he's great with the contestants, and keeps the pace of the game quite fast. The Classic format returning helps as well. That's the format people enjoy and are most familiar with, and the shuffle was probably the worst received format in the history of the show, and people seeing that the Classic format was back renewed interest.

So do we reckon then that the Aussies are getting sick of Eddie McGuire? I have seen him make comments to some Hot Seat contestants — the ones that failed to reach the $1000 mark come into mind here — that I would consider insulting, even if it was intended to get a laugh out of the audience. He seems to show a lot less empathy to these folks than Regis, Meredith, or Chris. Does Eddie really want them to win big? I'm not so sure.

I got a chance to view US Millionaire recently. Glad they brought back the old format. Still not a fan of the music and some aspects of the set.

Given their rationale in comparison to other formats around the world... I don't mind it. Millionaire being on a dark set during primetime when the family watches at 8 PM or 9 PM EST... makes sense for the environment to be dark. But at 2 PM, 4 Pm, in the middle of the afternoon? No... you can't be dark and keep it that way and expect to have the same feel.

Now I wish Millionaire was still on primetime. For me, the lighting and the music play an integral part of making Millionaire, well, Millionaire. Those pieces go together very well, and without them, there's not enough drama. And I agree that the airing time does make it even more dramatic when the whole country is watching.

I think that might be one of the reasons they didn't swap Hot Seat for Classic Millionaire, it could have been "too serious" for the pre 6pm news time slot
