On the money tree there are amounts between questions 1-4 and 6-9, and since you can NOT walk away and there are six contestants, those amounts are IMPOSSIBLE to win. So what's the point of having the amounts on the money tree?

The simple answer is that something has to be there. It's not Millionaire if there isn't a dollar amount attached to every question, even if you can never win that particular amount.
Just one more reason why the Hot Seat format is a joke.

Unfortunately, the contestant is in a disadvantage, since he isn't allowed to walk away with his earned amount.

On the Hot Seat format, if a contestant gets a question wrong, the top prize goes down one level. Whoever wins Hot Seat will get that new top prize. For example, on a new game, if a contestant gets any question wrong before $1M, the top prize goes down to $250K. So now, if someone were to answer the $250K question correctly, he/she will win that prize instead of $1M.

Oh, that's interesting. But I'm pretty sure it also depends on how the contestant is answering the questions with the time limit and how hard the questions are. I personally see the idea to be nice, but it kinda ruins the point of Millionaire, since the top prize of $1 MILLION would keep decreasing when the contestant gives a wrong answer to the questions.
