Jeremy Clarkson to host Millionaire!

Just started watching now.

First impressions:

Jezza is a great host! I think he's a naturally funny guy which helps.

The first blokes £200 question was bloody difficult.

Graphics look like they were made in PowerPoint.

I'm less concerned with the fonts than I am the music. As someone said earlier, it's terrible they're re-using so many cues. They have great and extremely creative/talented composers they need to take advantage of. That, to me, brings the value down so much. Also, it moves slowly.

If you remember back to Super Millionaire, the second episode even had some differences from the first episode and the second run of it had many differences from the first run.

Hopefully, they'll get their stuff together.

Jeremy is a real pro.  He's a natural fit for this format and adds a lot to the show.  Also, the studio is just incredible.  The fluidity of the set transitions reminds me of how mesmerized I was watching WWTBAM for the first time all those years ago.

The on-screen graphics lack the polish of the rest of the presentation.  Though I would have preferred variations on the clock soundtrack (or a new rendition of the old themes), I'm not going to complain about the classic cues considering what we've gotten on both sides of the pond for the last several years.

Overall, I'm looking forward to seeing more episodes!

Speaking of the money tree font, did anyone else notice this?



Unbelievable, considering all the time and money put into that amazing set, they cheap out on the on screen graphics.

Here's my take on the episodes with the good, the bad, and the ugly:

THE GOOD:

Jeremy Clarkson. Very funny, keeps the game at a great pace, and all around, I like him as a host.

The overall set. Looks really refreshing, looks really modern, I like it altogether.

The new safe haven format. I actually REALLY like this, as it changes how the contestants think in regards to actually incorporating more strategy into the game.

Ask the host is a neat lifeline, I'm not incredibly excited about it but again, a fresh perspective on the game play that keeps things interesting.

THE BAD:

Sound cues not consistent with the original format. No original lights down cue after $1,000 is hit is a bit disappointing, and it just feels weird that the lights down cue matches the same pitch as the actual question, instead of the lights down cue being lower, with the question being higher pitched.

Speaking of sound cues, the edits felt a bit weird. Also, the question that the 2nd contestant answered incorrectly was VERY inconsistent when it came to playing the wrong answer sound effect.

No money amount being shown at the bottom of the screen after the contestant gets a question right, unless they show it on the screen that is on the wall in between the host and contestant. If someone is randomly tuning in to the show, they won't know exactly what was just won until the host either says it or tells the contestant what they are playing for afterward (unless they also can match the music cue which can't be done on the first five questions)

Like Tim0n said, the overall set looks a bit too dark. Who knows though, maybe once we see a contestant make it to the really high questions, then this could change our opinions.

THE UGLY:

WTF were they thinking with the money tree and lifeline icon graphics?!?! It looks like that was the least bit of their focus when getting this show together, I think it looks hideous. Not to mention the audience lifeline shapes are actually sticking out of the oval border!!

Overall question presentation looks very bland. I feel like they really missed out on this one, and could've made it look much better.

CONCLUSION:

I'll give it a 6.5 out of 10. I liked it, but I wasn't incredibly excited about it. Hopefully it takes off though and we get a lot more exciting moments from the next several shows.
