Quick re-edit attempt before tonight's ep...seems this arrangement of the opening titles works better with these credits, rather than the host entrance, followed by the cut down host entrance streamable.com/0j179

Alright. We're making progress. 32,000 and 16,000. That's an upgrade from the first episode.
I was pretty sure, but not 100% that it was United. I was torn between trumpet and piano. I said the same thing.
David Reis was a pretty fun contestant. I really enjoyed the banter with Clarkson. I see they don't have the reveal of the fastest finger like they did last night.
Compared to the original, it's a disappointment to me, but compared to syndication, this is a breath of fresh air. I hope it does get picked up, as I would gladly watch.
Maybe tomorrow we'll have somebody get to six figures. I guess it's a matter of baby steps.

I read that the ratings were pretty good on the premiere episode. The article I read cited 5.1 Million viewers. Not sure exactly how UK ratings work, but really hope it gets renewed for more episodes. This would be promising for a 20th anniversary in the US! That's all I want, a 20th Anniversary primetime special with Regis. I would die to be in that hot seat. I was never old enough, that includes the 10-year Anniversary, when I was merely a couple of months away from turning 18 when Ken Basin happened.

So it looked like the money tree font changed in episode 2. Also Ramon Cavalo dissapeared from the credits.

Last nights ratings were 3.8 million. (Down 1.3 million from Saturday).
However, there are a few things to consider here: 1) All the major programmes were down last night from their previous episode. (For example, Countryfile, which is a staple of BBC Sunday evening tele, was down 1.5 million to 4 mil. The fact Millionaire is pulling in a similar amount is somewhat promising) 2) The weather is unusually good for a Bank Holiday Weekend so it seems lots of people are going out and not watching the TV. Combined with no work/school today for most people, it means that people probably went out and stayed out. (This may sound odd but weather really does have a massive impact on British people’s behaviour sometimes for some odd reason) 3) These are only the number of televisions tuned into ITV when Millionaire was on. For example, last night when I watched it, there were 4 other people with me, so 3.8million is a minimum really. 4) In about a month’s time, we’ll see the full figures with live watching and catch-up too, so that could change things.
Overall, it will be interesting to see how it performs over the week. Last night and tonight it’s up against a BBC flagship drama, which are usually popular.

Very disappointed.
- The pace is way too slow, especially in the first five. - The method of the moving safe haven is very clunky. They should have just did it the Russian way and set it at the beginning. - Graphics are a disaster. - Jeremy is not right for the job. Disrespecting the players cannot be considered "new host jitters". - The classic cues seem dated and out of place on the new set. The US clock music would have fit much better. (Interestingly we are complaining about cues being repurposed. The one cue that SHOULD have been repurposed but wasn't is the Double Dip cue. It would have been great for Ask The Host. - I'm not even entirely sure I like the new set. At times it looks gorgeous, but other times, it's busy and frenetic.
A real shame.

Some valid points here, but as I pointed out in a different thread, the moving safe haven is good strategically for the player. Say I have to burn all four lifelines on the £4,000 question. Then it might make sense for me to put the safe haven at £8,000. But if I have all my lifelines going into the £64,000 question, it might make sense to wait. If I had to pick a safe haven at the beginning of the game, I would of course pick £32,000 - but then if I had all my lifelines at that point I'd be regretting that decision.

He's got a point, I don't think mocking the contestants is on, to be honest. Even Chris didn't do that!

I don't remember Chris being rude to any contestant. Regis did do some ribbing with a few, but can Clarkson be considered ribbing or insulting?

Some thoughts after 3/7 episodes:
-> Clarkson is doing really well, imho. He is a little more lively than Tarrant, and I'm gonna overlook the aspect of mocking the contestants occasionally. I think he provides useful advice during the game progress as well, making sure the contestants are aware of all their options. And he's better at building tension than Tarrant. Yep, you read that correctly. Tarrant would only ever say "You've had £X", followed by "you just won/lost £X", sometimes "we'll find out after the break", and occasionally "had you said X, you would've won/lost £X". Not tremendously exciting. -> Setting the milestone has gotten a little better in terms of not stalling the game, probably because JC throws it as a rather rapid question, and partially because we got used to it. I do prefer this to the Russian-style "set your milestone before the game" approach. -> Ask the Host is just another WWTBAM lifeline. It works similarly to Ask the Expert, really, and I'm not taking much issue with it. We had examples of it working well, working badly, and not working at all thus far. I don't get why the producers are trying to emphasise the point that JC has nothing on his screen by not revealing the correct answer to him if ATH has been used on the question, especially given that it is mentioned *all the time* that he has no information or answer on his screen during the question. It makes for a clumsy answer reveal. -> The set is really growing on me. The logo and floor animations are fantastic, but I would modify the colour schemes. -> The graphics are still appalling. Whoever was in charge of them, should be fired. People will say that most viewers won't notice it. I tend to disagree - subconsciously, people will feel something is off. And those graphics are a massive eyesore. -> Likewise, The editors of the series, Damian O'Neill and Mick Hitchman, should be really ashamed of their job, and should also be fired. The music is wrong. The cues are cut, played, replayed, whatever. The pacing is horrible, with massive gaps between question being announced and actually asked (although we've seen a slight improvement over Saturday's show). And fgs, not installing fonts used by the show is such a rookie error that I cannot believe that mistake was made by two men with 10+ years of experience in TV editing.
It's up to 6/10. for me. I don't think it can go up much higher until the next series. I am truly hoping they will fix up the crap if the next series is commissioned.

Some valid points here, but as I pointed out in a different thread, the moving safe haven is good strategically for the player. I don't disagree with that point, but good for the player doesn't always mean good television.
