Because Millionaire is such a great game show, and the American version was one of the most popular before ABC overexposed it, I wouldn’t be surprised if we see that version come back by 2024 (its 25th anniversary). What would you want for it?
* Who would you want to host it? * What format should it use? * What music should it use — original, 2008 Clock or Rave? * What lifelines would you like to see? * What should the set look like? * What graphics and intro should it use? * What network should air it? * And where do you think it should be filmed?
Here’s my view:
Host: I think it should be hosted by someone who can bring something new to the table and actually be funny instead of trying too hard to be funny or trying to be like any of the prior hosts. (If you’re expecting me to say Regis, then the reason why I didn’t suggest him is because he’s 87 right now, although he’s a great host.)
Format: Use the original format. Only 15 questions come between the contestant and $1,000,000. Two milestones. All the time in the world. The second milestone could be chosen by the contestant, like the Russian and 2018 UK versions.
Music: Maybe original or 2008 Clock, but if they use the Rave, I wouldn’t be surprised.
Lifelines: Same as the UK revival, but with Plus One instead of Phone-A-Friend, since we all know why PAF was discontinued in January 2010.
Set: Use elements of the French and 2018 UK sets, maybe even use a bit of the classic set too.
Graphics and intro: Use the 2019 Rave package.
Network: Air it on Fox or NBC. ABC already had its turn, and I don’t think CBS has any interest in game shows outside of Price and Deal.
Location: New York City, like it was from 1999-2014.

about the Phone-a-Friend replacement, instead of +1, why don't we do "Video-a-Friend"? it's similar to Ask the Expert and has been done in KBC.
for the host, I really want to see Chris Harrison coming back. He's still good and relatively younger than UK's Jeremy Clarkson. He will be somewhat similar to France's Camille Combal.
and let it be produced by Sony (who also produces Jeopardy) instead of Valleycrest and Disney-ABC. it should still be aired on ABC tho, because that's what most Americans remember when talking about Millionaire. Twice a week is enough, celebrity editions should be only thrice a year at most. the early UK version did that too.
about the format, I'd suggest the original, plus the adjustable second safety net, Ask the Host, Phone-a-Friend tweak (either +1 or Video a Friend), and reduction of FFF contestants (instead of ten, we should have only six).

If Regis doesn’t return, I view Craig Ferguson as the ideal heir to the Millionaire throne. He’s a fantastic host and can switch from thoughtful to hysterical on a dime.

About the host, Chris Harrison is a decent host and I expect him to return. Regis is too old now. I think they should only bring him back as a special contestant. If they seriously want the revived show to last long, use the ORIGINAL 15-question format with two safe havens. But it's also fine to make the second safe haven adjustable(Like the current UK format), just don't mess everything up like what they did back in 2010. Either the original or the Rave music is OK. I'm not talking much about this. The lifelines should be like the revived Italian version(50-50, Plus One, ATA, Ask the Host), as they decided to eliminate PAF in 2010. The set:I'm in agreement with you. Given that the new graphics have been widely used since the UK 20th anniversary, they should use them. I still can't stand the ones they used on the last season. I personally think ABC should still air it. Once a week is sufficient. It should be filmed in New York again, IMO.

Wonder how Chris would do with Ask the Host?

I think the shuffle format was ABC’s biggest mistake. They should’ve just kept the clocked format rather than changing the music and the whole perspective of the show.

Technically the Clock was panned too. But everyone like myself will agree that the Shuffle format makes the Clock look awesome.

As much as I would love to see Regis return, he probably won't, considering how old he is now. If they do decide to bring Millionaire back, complete with the original music and format, they could do a special pre-recorded video from Regis, similar to what he did when he bid farewell to Kathie Lee Gifford on TODAY.
I think I would like to see Chris Harrison return for a Primetime Revival. I've grown a liking to him after watching him host, he's pretty good!

Get Regis in one special "takeover" episode, with Chris Harrison playing in the hot seat. after Chris plays, Chris becomes the host and Regis plays. the Ask the Host lifeline should not be implemented at that moment, should be later in the next episode, where Chris becomes the proper host in the first proper episode.

Good idea. Also, there should be a Tournament of Champions, where ten of the best contestants in the season ($125,000 and up) compete to win $10,000,000 (don’t worry, I steer away from the Tournament of Ten). It could be held at the end of the season.

That could be for a special episode where past contestants in the original primetime and syndicated would return to compete for $5,000,000.

If they bring Millionaire back in ABC and Primetime, they should use two money trees, Classic and High Risk and they bring Regis back as the host, and same 2 lifelines and new 1 lifeline, 50:50, Ask the Audience and Video-A-Friend and a additional lifeline in the High-Risk Money Tree, Switch the Question, and put their top prize to $5,000,000, and if on the final 5 questions, the contestant will go to the next dimension like Super Millionaire.
My Money Tree for the potential return: 15 $5,000,000 14 $4,000,000 13 $3,000,000 12 $2,000,000 11 $1,000,000 10 $500,000 9 $100,000 8 $50,000 7 $40,000 6 $20,000 5 $10,000 4 $5,000 3 $3,000 2 $2,000 1 $1,000

Regis is 88. We need a younger host for the show.

Howard Stern, Howie Mandel or someone that is younger than Regis can be the new host.
