I had this idea for a lifeline a while back. It would be an alternative to 50:50 or double dip with a slightly different kind of suspense. It's essentially the same as double dip I think but executed in a different way. I tentatively named it "Elimination" but you guys probably have a lot better ideas then me. I'm not sure how well it could work in a game, what do you think?
Here's how I think it would work. Let's say there was a question where the correct answer was C. The contestant is torn between A and C, so they decide to use their elimination lifeline. They would name the answers A and C. The answer A would be eliminated. The contestant has already ruled out B and D so C is their final answer. But they can't necessarily trust this! Let's say there was another question with C as the answer. A contestant doesn't think C is the answer and they also rule out D. They decide to use the lifeline and name the answers A and B. The computer randomly picks which answer between A and B to eliminate. Let's say it eliminates B. Then the contestant would make A their final answer and get it wrong. I don't think there would be any advantages over double dip, but it kind of adds more unpredictability.
Let me know if you need me to clarify it and if you think it's a good idea or not

Looks like a good one to me, but it would sound like a hint on higher level questions

That sounds like 50:50, but with two answers you choose. So, like, a worse version of 50:50? I can't imagine how that would impact gameplay much, but hey, maybe there is strategy beneath the idea, who knows.

It sounds better to me than 50:50 actually? Because you get to choose the answers. To me it is better than 50:50 but worse than double dip, with a different kind of strategy.

This kind of a "lifeline" was used in a gameshow called "Joker" which aired in Poland, France and Israel. The contestant would choose one answer to be eliminated from a choice of two. That was the only lifeline they had, but they could use it up to 7 times during the game, more than once per question (on a total of 10 questions). It's an interesting mechanic but I think it fails unless you can do it more than once in the whole game.

Ah, that's cool! I had no idea that a game show actually used that. Interesting

not bad, but it could make the final questions easier, so it would need a refresh.

Any lifeline could make the final questions easier, many can make it easier as much as this one. Lifelines like 50:50 or double dip, for example, could make final questions as much easier as this one.
