I mean… Supermarket Sweep got renewed, so why wouldn’t they renew Millionaire? Keep in mind, Sweep aired right before Millionaire and both had similar ratings.

Because Millionaire is far more expensive. Of course it is, but that still doesn’t mean they shouldn’t renew it. Honestly, ABC knew Millionaire was gonna get low ratings, it’s very much obvious. So, if it doesn’t get renewed, you guys got robbed. I’d love to see what Michael Davies has to say, especially about the show’s future… (if it even exists) |

To be honest, if it weren't for the pandemic changing up the production of the show, I think we would've had a better version of the show. They filmed this show when the pandemic started and they were able to finish the first season. Now, with people getting vaccinated and more things begin to open up, I could see them bring back the audience in a limited, socially distanced fashion (and Ask the Audience) if ABC orders another season. Also, it would be a lot better if next season includes all civilians and keep the celebrities for their own miniseries.

Millionaire could have had better ratings if they would have taken more attention to detail (sounds, music, lights) and gotten a host that was just a little bit more interesting and enthusiastic about hosting the worlds greatest game show. They had the perfect model right in front of them with the awesome UK version, they really rushed things and you can tell in production. I hope I am wrong, but it does seems fishy how everything about US Millionaire has gone completely silent. No updates on social media of any kind.

Doesn't help that ABC seemingly had that little faith in it to eventually schedule it against football. And Jimmy was a great host when civilians were playing.

Only us, hardcore fans, notice (and complain about) it. Not entirely true. Attention to detail is indicative of production values. Shows with higher production values are not always rated higher, but on average they do get more eyeballs. Reading the reviews here for this version of Millionaire, there seems to be pretty broad agreement that it could have been better. |

It should've been better. With the original format and music, as well as original EP Michael Davies, it looked like it would be a success prior to airing. Hopefully, if it ends up being canceled again (God forbid), it can somehow find a new network that can do it right. Otherwise syndication is its only option, and Millionaire is a show that doesn't work in syndication.

Millionaire is ABC’s legacy, and it’s a pity that they treated the show the way they did. Millionaire could potentially air in the Winter Fun & Games block next year, so we’re going to have to wait for a bit to hear about that lineup. Fingers crossed.

In fact, Millionaire brought ABC back to the top just when it looked like the network was about to lose its place in the "Big Four" networks. Michael Eisner even turned down eventual evergreen hits such as Survivor because he was that invested in Millionaire.

Not yet so far. Winter is our last hope to see Millionaire on the schedule. If it doesn't appear, then it's gone. The $100,000 Pyramid didn't have any 2020 episodes, but that was due to COVID.

Industry press labeled WWTBAM as a midsession replacement if it returns, so don’t expect to hear news either way until winter. Fingers crossed that we get good news then!
