BTW,I've always wondered why prizes in albanian version were in euros and not lek, which is their official currency Exactly! Same goes for Uruguay's original version, which had the top prize in USD and not pesos, which is their official currency.

My guess is that it has to do with the rate of inflation of the currencies. Currencies with high inflation rates lose their value very quickly. That's not great if you're trying to produce a show where winning a big amount of money is a crucial part of its identity. You don't want to go from "Who wants to be a millionaire?" to "Who wants to be able to afford two sandwiches and and a Coke?" So they introduce more stable currencies that are less affected by inflation, i.e. the US dollar or the euro. The cash prize doesn't lose its value and people can go to the bank and have the money exchanged for their local currency. It's what many people in those countries do with their savings anyway.

The Uruguayan version has since returned, with a top prize of 1,500,000 Uruguayan pesos, so there doesn't really seem to be a reason for Uruguay.

Hi all, Here's a new thread to discuss some of the worst money trees, top prizes, graphics, sets, and any other aspects, of international Millionaire. I'll start by saying that the weirdest money trees are probably Angola and Vietnam (Q5 for Kz. 6,000?/Q11 for 22,000,000?). Bye.
Yes I agree that Angola and my country, Vietnam is weird but what about Ukraine (64,000 then 250,000 then 1,000,000, seriously?) and Belgium French (125,000 jumps to 1,000,000)?

Same goes for the Netherlands since 2019 (same money tree as Ukraine 2004), Germany (€125,000 then €500,000) and Aussie Hot Seat ($250,000 then $1,000,000). I feel like Chowrownaatihown's random 2,900 amount might be a stab at the Vietnamese and Ghanaian money trees where it looks like amounts have been plucked out of random (Ghana has ₵425 and ₵575 levels while Vietnam has ₫14,000,000, ₫22,000,000 and ₫85,000,000 levels)

My main test for a version is if the money tree allows you to lose more than you can win on a certain question: the original 1998 tree was built to directly avoid that. Ecuador's first money tree, however brilliant a host Alfonso Espinosa de los Monteros is, was a prime example of it: in the original years the idea was that the last five questions increased in $5,000 increments. But if you're on the fourteenth question, do you want to risk $12,000 for just $5,000 more?
I never really liked the Iranian version: terrible graphics, awful set.
The Argentinian revival was pretty rubbish too: poorly-written questions, awful money tree ($130.000 level? Why?), naff host.

The music sometimes isn't even the music score! What is this, a talk show? And the less said about the Brazilian version, the better. Also, did you mean $180.000? $90.000 was also a bit weird, although both can make sense in some circumstances (updated custom money tree includes 90,000, 180,000 and 375,000 amounts). The Kazakh money tree also has a ₸90,000 amount, however the question after that is worth ₸150,000. Why not make it worth ₸75,000?

Pakistan's Islamic Take On "Millionaire" I don't know if this version is licensed or not The format is the same fastest finger and 15 questions etc. It's more religious and the music and everything isn't the same. It also has a clock. www.youtube.com/watch?v=T5cGKMN_sak&ab_channel=Microstar56

That sure doesn’t look licensed. If it is, they were allowed to be very liberal in their use of the license.

imo I think one of the actual worst wwtbam version to date is the Uganda's version. There are no like full episodes online, only videos of 1 player/video, no full intro and the host just introduce their name and then ask if they're ready to play. And talking about the host he looks super tired, really dont know if he is or not but his face just screams it. And their set too, their set looks super close if not exactly like the Nigeria's version I bet even to the year Nigeria fix the center circular thing. I have a feeling that uganda just borrow/rent the Nigeria's studio or something. The worst part is that the Nigeria wwtbam is a masterpiece ngl, it's full of funny moments and the host is funny too. About Uganda's graphics...oh boy. the whole video looks fine and modern to the recorded year but their graphics looks like it was recorded on vhs or hi8 tapes, looks abit dark and sometimes there are random semi black vhs filmgrains. And the wole show is boring too. Like there's 1 time the host ask a guy are you ready and he said true like what?? and one guy look kinda disturbed and make questions when the host suddenly talks about his sisters because the question is "as similar as..." and it's one of the answers OH MY LORD

Also, thank you for reviving my thread! I also think that Venezuela, Mexico and Azerbaijan (both iterations) qualify too, and most Hot Seat versions, especially those that use Strachan cues. Georgia's first version as well... if it weren't for a good host, I'd say it was the worst ever. Also Armenia by 2009. Shant TV edit episodes weirdly, and so the only proper episode that can be found is from 2014, and it's so bad. From the use of the closing theme as host entrance to a REALLY unenthusiastic audience to a weird pause before meet the contestants...
Also Nigeria 2022 was great, but in 2009/10 it was horrible due to a sloppy transition that made Vietnam and Sweden look good. Pre-2009 it seemed to be fine minus a bad set, and post-2010 was alright as well, but I don't like the video wall logo thingy - similar to Colombia 2011, which BTW made it worse by making the screen a CIRCLE. Why?

OMG I forgot to reply and it's been months 😭🤦. Yeah the nigeria's version set is really crappy like to this this day I still don't know what's the material for the circlular thing. The only found out about this after watching that win from Aroma a few times because the crowd was jumping around all cheering Aroma. And like pre 2009's one is not even centered 😭

The Mongolian money tree fails this massively, but it seems to actually look quite polished, minus the weird way of dealing with the intro. The issue for me is that they seem to treat the show as if it's a video game, with the money tree being "updated" after a question is answered correctly, and the excessive sound effects that just give me PTSD of UK 2011-14 lol. The US 2020/2024 questions are also badly written, as they sound way too casual, and sometimes almost opinion-based. The South African version showed a similar problem with David Paterson's R500,000 question. Also, Sri Lanka's translators just seem to be really lazy, as quotes are only transliterated, rather than actually translated - indeed, recently there was one question that was only transliterated.

I saw clips of the Uganda's version, i wasn't a fan of the host as well. I thought he moved too slowly and i hated the way he read the questions. Their questions was dumb easy.
Nigeria got a lot better, but the 2005–2009 set was the worst; it was small and wasn't centered right. I thought the newer set was nicer. The Rebirth set looks unfinished
Argentinian revival: the same thing, I wasn't a fan of the host and how he stands instead of sitting down and he tries to be too dramatic.
Azerbaijan wasn't bad i liked the first version and the first host. The set was weird.
