Yep, Flash has an XMLSocket object that can connect to a TCP server and send/receive commands (doesn't need to be XML despite the name)
To answer your questions:
1. Yes, the USA version of Millionaire uses those graphics on the host and player screens now, they don't use the classic Millionaire Hexagon-type containers (Watch starting around 1:40 into this video very closely: www.youtube.com/watch?v=GtmS5tE9L18)
2. I just have the comms feeding into that textbox for testing purposes. Once I get closer to completion, Answer Explanations will appear in that box once contestants select a final answer.
3. I do not hold a college degree. I guess now would be a great time to admit that I'm not 25 years old like my YT profile says. I'm actually 18, will be entering college in just under a month now.
