I am not sure that I'll like this. I have always thought we had the perfect format, music, graphics, everything! It's too bad they are getting rid of it, but I'm hoping the only things that change are the times and the quesiton amount.
I just wish they'd make the questions easier.
There's also an issue with this. How are they going to do the new Wii, Nintendo DS, and PC game? Are they going to match it with the format, or will they continue with the old format and update it in the next edition.
But as Finalanswer19 said, we can only assume, we'll have to wait for more details.

I agree with Reidb1700. I didn't like the clock when it was instituted; I've gotten used to it now, but it still frustrates me sometimes. I wouldn't mind if they dumped the clock. However, with the changes that occured in Season 7, our format became unique. Millionaire was almost like our own show. We weren't just another country copying the UK format. We introduced quite a few game play elements that no other country's version has had. I think we should be proud of that.
As for the music, I don't think it should be changed for Season 9. The new remixed theme that debuted in Season 7 is a fantastic variation on the same theme we've heard for years. Whoever is in charge of the music did an excellent job. I wouldn't want the U.S. version to switch to the UK theme music. I think that the UK did a bad job remixing their theme. It sounds like dance music, honestly.
I can't wait to hear about the new changes. Hopefully we'll hear something soon.

Well I can say to see what will be the new season will be like. I love the new season 7 that is currently used. It made Millionaire alive once more as it was kinda a copycat of Millionaire Play It with the clock version. I'm going to see a taping of Millionaire in August 19th (hopefully if all goes well), so I may or may not see the new version in placed until then or not. We'll see and kinda excited and not. LOL

Well then, as far as I'm concerned there's nothing more we can do about the money tree spread. It's a done deal! We might as well embrace it!! In fact - I never thought I'd say this - I'm all for the new changes!!

FrankT's final answer is correct. When I heard of the Season 7 I was like "Oh man a clock well then I guess I'll never watch Millionaire anymore!" and now for two summers I've been watching 2 episodes of millionaire every weekday! So maybe the changes will be appealing as the S7's changes.

So far, I've approved of the numerous changes that Millionaire has made over its long history. These new altercations, though...no, I'm not going for them.
The only thing I like is the "shorter money tree." It'll probably be the 12-question style that Britain uses. This would be a really good move for the U.S. version, seeing that it only runs at half-hour intervals. More contestants can play in a shorter time period, and if it imitates Britain, it almost guarantees a contestant $1,000.
I've been reading posts here that the clock may be removed. I would really hate to see it go, for two reasons. One, as joacen said, the clock makes the U.S. version unique. It adds an exciting element to the game that other versions have no or very little of: EXCITEMENT. Timed game-shows, I think, are generally more exciting than their counterparts.
Secondly, the timer moves things right along. Back in older versions of the show, contestants could take as long as they wanted. In a certain Youtube video, Regis commented that one potential millionaire spent over 50 minutes on one question. The show edited most of it out, of course, but still. Going back to the half-hour arguement, we don't have time to wait 3 or 4 minutes for a single answer.
Finally, the lifelines. I have no idea what the new life-line could be. I'm upset that Millionaire has dumped the classics like 50:50 and Phone A Friend, so my view here is going to be biased. Still, I strongly oppose replacing life-lines. God knows how I'll react if this lifeline modifies Ask the Audience.
I'm done ranting for the day. Time to go do those "breathe in, breathe out" exercises.

FrankT and millionaire1999 are right, we just have to live with these changes, but hey, we might love these new changes, so we'll just have to wait.
As for RandeyDorney, I am jealous. I would love to go to a taping (the closest I ever got to one is Play It! which was a lot of fun), make sure you tell us what it's like.

The promo video doesn't reveal much, just "more excitement, more drama, more reward, and that's only the first ten questions." Hmmmmmm, I wonder what that means.....

I know all about the new season. I hope that the new lifeline or lifelines that are going to be used. I really don't know about the 12-question format they are going to adapt about from the UK version. I just was used to the 15 question format but it would be a good chance someone won Millionaire since 2009. Anyways, I think the new season would be an overall success.

Well, by the looks of it, "...And that's only the first ten questions..." I wonder if they are going to only have 10 questions.

That promo is really nice. I'd like to see some of that animation in a new intro sequence.
Also, the "first ten questions" statement really makes me think that something special happens with the final few questions. I have to admit, I'm excited to see what's going to happen.

The first ten questions....hmm, what makes me think that the 2nd safe haven will be worth a little more than before? That's the only thing that comes to mind for me, at the moment.
