I must say, 1 vs. 100 was always one of my favorites, in fact it's right up there along side Millionaire. But there's a few things about the remake that I don't like either.
I agree that the orange scheme isn't that good but my biggest complaint about it is if you're sitting farther back in the room with an older television set, it's hard to read the question on the orange color, especially when it goes to light orange at the bottom of the question box. A very light color and white font just wasn't the smartest idea.
And I don't really care for Carrie Ann that much either. If there's one thing I can't stand is when hosts or even contestants are waving their arms all around, it gets annoying. I also don't like the fact that she always wears such tight and short outfits. It just doesn't look appealing to me. And of course the icing on the cake. "Do you want the money, or do you want the mob? But I don't want your answer now, I want it when we come back!" I hate that! I always felt Bob Saget was meant for this show.
And the last complaint I do have is the money tree. I understand GSN is probably on a limited budget considering how over the past year it's become the Family Feud and Deal or No Deal network as it seems those are the only two shows that ever run on there, but to have a top prize of only $50,000 which is almost impossible to reach? Even the syndicated version of Deal or No Deal offered a top prize of a half a millionaire dollars and Millionaire still offers a million dollar top prize (I'd hope so anyway). But by the time you get up to $10,000, the questions get very hard and $10,000 really isn't 'that' much money for a gameshow like this.
Anyway, aside from all that, I always thought that the music and effects were cool. I'm glad GSN kept the original music and almost have all the correct cues from the primetime version except for when you answer a question correctly, it uses the cue from season one rather than season two which is now used to indicate the end of how many mob members got the question wrong. All in all I'm happy the show was revived and back on the air, I guess I can overlook the bad stuff about it and just enjoy it.
