Welcome to the official sign-up thread for the Millionaire Fans Fifth Anniversary Who Wants to Be a Millionaire RPG. This RPG has been in the works for quite a while, and I think everyone here is pretty excited about finally kicking off the celebration of Millionaire Fans’ fifth anniversary.
In this thread, members can choose their roles in the upcoming RPG. Please remember that participation in the RPG is not to be taken lightly. If a member neglects his duty in the RPG, the entire game can be effectively stalled. As this will be a huge game involving much more site members than usual, I ask that members only sign up for a role if they are willing to dedicate their time to the RPG. Remember that the all players who are actively participating in the RPG must post at least once a day. That may not seem like a lot (and, often, members exceed this requirement by several posts), but a post a day keeps things moving at a decent pace. If you do not think you can meet this requirement, do not sign up for the RPG. Anyone who is not a major player in the RPG at any given time is required to keep an eye on the RPG and be ready to jump in when his or her role pops up.
As usual, I ask that all potential players take a look at the official rules and procedures for Millionaire Fans RPGs before signing up for a role.
Sign-ups for the RPG begin on Thursday, December 2, 2010, at 10 PM Eastern time. Please adjust accordingly for your time zone. This time is subject to change (it will only be postponed, not pushed forward), so keep an eye on this post. At the designated time, this thread will be unlocked, and posting will be enabled.
We need:
4 Hosts: Users can sign up to be any of the world’s Millionaire hosts, from any version of the show. I have no problem with multiple members playing the part of the same host, as long as we maintain some sort of logical balance, depending on who signs up to play who. Each player will host one game with one contestant. Please note that I will be hosting the first game as Regis, so that I can kick everything off and get things moving in the right direction.
5 Contestants: We will be using Fastest Finger to determine the order that contestants get into the Hot Seat. Therefore, up to 10 players can participate as contestants in the Ring of Fire, but only 5 will get to play in the Hot Seat. Whether or not you get to play for the million dollars (if there are more than five contestants) depends entirely on your performance in the Fastest Finger round, just like on the television series. I do ask that the contestants play fair. It won’t be fun if everyone wins a million dollars because each contestant decided to look up the answers on the internet.
1 or more Computer Players: We need at least one person to write all of the questions in the game. If more than one member wants to be the computer, that’s fine. The more computers there are, the lesser the burden on any one participant. I just as that the computer players work together to ensure consistency among the question stacks. Computer players will also determine Lifeline results, unless players sign up as Lifeline players (see below). I request that at least one computer player be the “Chief Computer” who serves as the leader of the computer players, coordinates question writing, and makes all the necessary posts in the RPG. If you’re not a team player, do not sign up for the computer role. All questions and Lifeline results will be sent to Millionaire1999, who will then make the necessary graphics and send them back to the Chief Computer player, who will post them in the RPG.
If anyone is not able to sign up for a major role in the RPG, but still wishes to participate, I’d be perfectly willing to separate the Lifeline role from the Computer role and let various members dictate Lifeline results. Hopefully, everyone who wants to play can get involved in some way.
All positions are first come, first served. I really hope that everyone gets the role that he or she desires. Please note that, if not enough players sign up, then the number of hosts will be reduced, and those hosts will become contestants. After all, we need contestants for the game to proceed. The hosts will be converted into contestants in the order they signed up, starting with the last host to sign up.
Please go through all of the polls so that you have an understanding of the rules of the game. The game will use the clock format, with one day representing 15 seconds, just like we have done in the past.
Remember that rules and procedures are subject to change as we move forward and things begin to fall into place. Please bear with us. We’ve never attempted an RPG this big with so many different people from around the world. I certainly am looking forward to the RPG, and I hope it will be a huge success.
Good luck!
