It seems it's been confirmed by ITV. Regular episodes of UK Millionaire are over. It's a sad day in the game show world. Goodbye to the show that started a phenomenon!
The good news is that the occasional celebrity specials (also confirmed by ITV) should draw a nice audience. But it's still lousy to think that no more regular contestants will get to play. Too bad the show didn't get a proper series finale. I've said it before, but if primetime US Millionaire never does come back, I'm extremely happy that it ended with that great moment of Regis and Meredith in the Hot Seat together.

It might be the new-raving music that took down Millionaire. I know for a fact that the US Millionaire is still doing good. But that is just my theory. I say it has to be the new clock, the discontinuing of the Fastest Finger, and also the new music. Maybe the UK audience wanted something origional?

I didn't see anything wrong with the UK music. On the contrary, I love 'em! Even more so then the old music or the US version. Maybe the clock and fasting finger first. That's too bad. I certainly wish we had the clock format still here in the US

You don't destroy the following of a show that totals millions of people just by changing the music. The fact of the matter is that the show lost its charm in the UK, people stopped watching, and the new format failed to rekindle interest - in fact, it probably hurt more than it helped. My hope is that they have a few live shows with civilians, however; it'd probably draw in better ratings in the long run than a show with only celebrities. It is truly a sad day for the game show community.

wow, this is almost as if a good friend died... I guess we all knew that one day it was going to happen anyway, but this is far too early and too abruptly. At least they wanna bring it back occasionally, even though i personally prefer ordinary people playing in the hot seat. I think the producers started changing it too late. In my opinion, the new music and 12 questions don't really count, because these are just little changes that don't affect gameplay itself much. The clock came too late i guess, although I think that just adding a new lifeline or something entirely new would've been better. I dunno. It's just sad.

Well, of course Chris Tarrant will be back if they only go ahead with celebrity specials, but according to that article, Chris is under the impression that civilian shows will be continuing. I guess we'll wait and see.
