WHO WANTS TO BE A MILLIONAIRE? PINBALL
REVISED RULESHEET - 1/4/2011
REVISED RULESHEET - 1/4/2011
Object
Collect every dollar value in Round 1, engage in 4-ball Millionaire Multiball, and climb the way to $1,000,000! How many times can you do it?
ROUND 1 (Complete all values to light Round 2 and Millionaire Multiball)
Dollar Values
During normal play (that is, none of the Lifeline modes are activated), the contestant must light all 10 dollar values listed on the playfield. The order of said values will be randomly shuffled by the game computer prior to the first ball. These include: $100; $500; $1,000; $2,000; $3,000; $5,000; $7,000; $10,000; $15,000; $25,000.
The dollar values can be claimed by completing all 11 MILLIONAIRE stand-ups, or via a random Special. Letters can be spotted when claiming Bonus Multipliers. Letters are spotted starting with 'O' and moving right, wrapping around the word if necessary to find an unlit letter to spot.
The total scoring bonus available in Round 1 is $68,600, assuming all 10 questions are answered correctly. The contestant won't know the dollar value for any MILLIONAIRE cycle in Round 1 until they complete the stand-ups, or jump the question (see below).
Game Play
During normal play, the contestant will be able to take one (or more) of four actions:
Miscellaneous Scoring
Jet Bumpers are worth $1,010. Slingshots are $10. (Yes, that's right, 10! Makes it easier when it comes to the Match.)
The Bank
Upon completing a MILLIONAIRE cycle, the dollar value of the cycle is revealed to the contestant, and that amount is added to his score (as well as his end-of-ball bonus – see below). But, if the contestant manages to activate the "Jump the Question" mode, the value of the present cycle is not added to their score or bonus. For example, if a contestant wins $7,000 and $3,000, and jumps $5,000, the points added to his score would total $10,000.
When the contestant scores the last remaining value on the board (or has the "Jump the Question" available and uses it to jump that value), Millionaire Multiball is lit and he can shoot to lock the ball at the flashing hole, beginning 4-ball play. After Multiball ends, he can start collecting the Round 1 values all over again.
End-of-Ball Bonus
As soon as the ball is drained, the contestant is awarded $1,000 in consolation, plus one or more of the following Bonus Awards, which can be multiplied:
- Half of the values accumulated in the Bank
- Lifeline Bonuses (if any)
- $25,000 x the number of times Millionaire Multiball has been activated (if applicable)
- $5,000 x the number of MILLIONAIRE letters spotted (if applicable)
For example, if the contestant has a total of $20,000 in the Bank, and has hit 7 MILLIONAIRE letters, as well as scoring $15,000 in the "Ask the Audience" lifeline, he receives $60,000.
The Bonus Multiplier can be advanced by completing the three diamond shapes at the top of the playfield (they also score $500 apiece). Flipper buttons trigger a Lane Change, which can assist in increasing their Bonus X Value.
Mystery
From time to time, in its sole discretion, the computer may supplement one of the dollar values with a randomly selected feature. If a contestant completes a cycle with a Mystery attached, the money is added to the contestant's Bank, and the random feature is also activated. The dollar value added to the contestant's Bank would be treated like any other money in the Bank.
ROUND 2 & MILLIONAIRE MULTIBALL
If the contestant successfully completes Round 1 by completing all the dollar values on the board (or using his "Jump the Question" lifeline) he can shoot the Lock to begin the climb to the $1,000,000 ($25,000 is awarded when started). The Round 2 money tree will light up in the middle of the playfield. The object is to advance the ladder all the way to the top. There are 4 levels. To advance the money tree, alternating shots must be made to either ramp, and then to the Lock. Each shot scores whatever is flashing on the board at the time. The last shot ($1,000,000) is a moving target, after which a lock must be made.
$100,000 - Shoot Lock to score
$250,000 - Shoot 'A' Ramp
$500,000 - Shoot 'B' Gate
$1,000,000 - Moving target; must make shot at whichever is currently flashing
As soon as the million is achieved, 4-ball Millionaire Multiball begins! Here, the contestant will stand to win up to four even bigger Jackpots of increasing difficulty and prize values. The Jackpots can be scored again in the order above, resetting after each Super Jackpot.
$1,000,000 - Jackpot - Shoot Lock to score
$2,500,000 - Jackpot - Shoot 'A' Ramp
$5,000,000 - Double Jackpot - Shoot 'B' Gate
$10,000,000 - Super Jackpot - Moving target; must make shot at whichever is currently flashing
Repeat until all balls (save one have) been drained, wherein the Round 1 values are switched off, ready to be collected once again with MILLIONAIRE cycles.
LIFELINE MODES
These modes can be started by shooting and lighting the 'A', 'B', 'C' and 'D' areas – that is, the 'A' ramp, 'B' gate, 'C' loop and 'D' lock. $25,000 is awarded, and whichever icon is flashing then begins.
Jump the Question
Not exactly a mode, but still counts. The "Jump the Question" lifeline allows the contestant to skip any of the values to complete. Upon using this lifeline, the contestant skips to the next cycle, but they also forfeit the opportunity to win the prize money or any Special that had been assigned to the jumped value.
Ask the Audience
Timer starts at 20 seconds. The 'A', 'B', 'C' and 'D' shots are lit. Shot A starts at $20,000; B starts at $10,000, C at $15,000, and D $5,000. When one of these shots is hit, its value goes up by $5,000. At the end of the mode, whichever value is the highest will be awarded.
Double Dip
Essentially the Hurry Up mode. The 'A', 'B', 'C' and 'D' shots are lit. They all start at $100,000, and countdown $1,000 per second down to $20,000 before expiring. Score the Hurry Up value by shooting two of these shots, for a maximum possible $200,000.
TILT
Contestants who attempt to nudge or lift the table beyond a reasonable number of warnings, as determined in the sole discretion of the operator, can and will be disqualified.
