Regis Philbin, beloved daytime talkshow host and host of the U.S. version of "Who Wants to be a Millionaire" and the talent series "America's Got Talent," is going to undergo triple bypass surgery later this week.
He said, "I've been feeling chest pains, shortness of breath and all those little symptoms that you hear about." He says that after a number of tests, doctors recommended the bypass. Philbin then went on to say, "Darn it, I don't want to do it."
Regis was hoping to get away with an angioplasty, but he says "there's some plaque in some arteries and I've got to get it cleaned out."
Regis made the announcement this morning on Monday, April 12 during Live! With Regis and Kelly.
This is sad news for all of Reege's loyal fanbase, and we at Millionaire Fans wish him all the best in the surgery. Remember to keep Regis in your prayers. Here's to a successful procedure and a full recovery!

From Access Hollywood: Regis Philbin underwent successful heart surgery on Wednesday and is now recovering at a New York City hospital, according to WABC in New York.
The word from Kelly Ripa is that her "big man" Regis Philbin has come through his heart bypass surgery "with flying colors."
Ripa announced on "Live With Regis and Kelly" that Philbin had the operation yesterday morning and is already "up, joking around with the nurses" and "harassing people."
Ripa says one of Philbin's doctors says he has "the heart of a 19-year-old."
And Ripa had this message for Philbin: "Nursy-poo is coming with her sponge." Ripa had promised Philbin a sponge bath.
Regis, 75, made the announcement earlier this week on "Live With Regis & Kelly" that he would be having surgery.
"I've been feeling chest pains, shortness of breath and all those little symptoms that you hear about," he explained.
Doctors recommended the surgery after a number of tests, much to the dismay of the lively host.
"Darn it, I don't want to do it," he said. "Nobody wants to do it, I guess. And I had a second opinion, I did all those things, and so they're all in agreement that it should be the bypass. And so that's what I'm gonna do."
------------------ Great news! This made my day!

Regis has returned to his daytime talk show "Live with Regis and Kelly" as of Thursday, April 26, 2007. He had a full recovery, and was greeted by legions of loyal fans on his return. His guest for the day was David Letterman, who underwent the exact same surgery as Regis a few years ago with the exact same doctors.
