I've looked around the inter webs finding out more about Regis' career as he is about to retire in a few months. I've found out that one of his first claim to fame appearances on television was from the 1960s show The Joey Bishop Show. Here's a clip. www.youtube.com/watch?v=LdyDRjpPftURegis first appears in this clip at about 1:55 Believe it or not, he doesn't sound significantly different from today, being 30-40 years later. What's your thoughts?

Interesting, he really does sound similar! I never saw early clips of Regis before. Didn't he host some game show before Millionaire? I heard something about it but I honestly don't know as much about Regis as others.

His only game show prior to WWTBAM was a short-lived series called "The Neighbors" on ABC, which pit neighboring families against each other. He's gone on record saying that he thought the show was clever, but it never took off.
Regis has been the star of tons of television series during his career. Many of them are so old that they've been lost to time. He hosted his own show on Saturday nights in St. Louis for a while, but I don't think any footage of that exists today (although I have seen newspaper ads for it). In addition to his daytime show (which went through several local iterations before evolving into the current format) and his late night run as Joey Bishop's sidekick, he also had a primetime show on Lifetime that incorporated exercise into the interviews. I think there's a clip of that show on YouTube of him interviewing Gene Rayburn of "Match Game" fame. The funny thing is, whether you go back days or decades, Regis really hasn't changed at all!
