I'm just wondering, who actually made the US clock music? I always thought Disney/ABC just took the original music, and put clock-ish sounds in.

Matthew Strachan is credited with music from all U.S. versions of Millionaire.

Matthew Strachan is credited with music from all U.S. versions of Millionaire. All of them? Did he do the Shuffle music too?

Is it just me or was the US clock music (season 7 or so) much much better than Season 9? I really don't feel like this new round of music has any of the "millionaire" flair to it anymore?

New composer = new feel. My bet is on it being a money saving move for the show. Strachan could have easily been contracted to do the work for the new format and I'm sure it would have sounded great with the classic Millionaire theme to it, but he was pretty expensive. He retained all of the distribution rights for his work, meaning the show was having to pay him each time they used it. The new stuff, however, was flat out purchased by the show so they don't have to pay any royalties on it and they control all of the distribution rights. Too bad the show isn't more popular. I'd like to think if it had a few million more viewers that they could be raking in more advertising dough and could afford to have Strachan do the music. Oh well. Mech

Daytime may do that. I don't want to bring out a potential argument here, but I have a feeling that if Millionaire, in this new format, was in Primetime, even if all elements of the game are the same, it would have more views. I can't generally watch Millionaire (I do record it though) because of school... during the day. Work and School for many people cause potential drops in views. You'd think Primetime would generally pull in more viewers since it seems like more people would have time to watch television at night... reasonably of course.

Not to stray too far off topic, but what if US Millionaire did special live shows like the UK? You know, maybe four primetime live shows a year with civilian contestants...I think it'd be a good move for them. EDIT: I mean, in addition to the daytime series.
