Last year, before my father died of a heart attack, I was able to go on one last family vacation to new york where we attended a taping. It...was...surreal! I couldn't believe it. I loved it so much! Just sitting in the audience -- nothing else -- was just so amazing. I'm so glad I was able to fulfill one of my childhood lifelong dreams! Anyone else have a similar experience?

It really is a huge shame that they took out Millionaire! from there.
Let me tell you: the lights, the sound, Regis, and even the glass floor in real life...its just...wow! We were very close to a few cameras and we could literally see how the show was recorded and run from on the set (not backstage of course) but it was just so amazing.
And the new format -- wtf? That's literally a slap to the face for all fans. They NEED to bring back the hot seat as well as the old music. It's just so much worse.

There's a online version of Millionaire Play It at www.themagical.nl and click 'simulations'. To relive the memories for those who visited and 'played' it at the attraction.

I played in the hot seat at "Play It!" twice over the years before they closed it down - was a total blast. The first time around I had no idea the attraction even existed. Once I found it, I pretty much dedicated the next 2 days to attending every show (except skipping one to eat lunch). I'll never forget the first time I won the fastest finger challenge. I didn't even read the question and just typed in some random answer, so I almost pee'd myself when I saw my seat number at the top of the list - naturally, it was a disaster as I wasn't prepared (I did win 1,000 points).
The second go round I went there dedicated to play again and managed to squeeze in as the top scorer when the contestant bombed out on 32k. I went on to make it to the 125,000 point question (something about the superlative form of an adverb, don't remember the question) and lost. That same trip I qualified to play two more times but wasn't able to because of the 30-day blackout period. (I remember the second time the host said "you aren't eligible? S-T-O-P P-R-E-S-S-I-N-G B-U-T-T-O-N-S!" which gave everyone in the studio a laugh.)
Long story short (too late): It was definitely a blast and something I won't be forgetting about - having all the cameras on you and getting the audience riled up and laughing at your jokes is pretty crazy. Also passing the 32,000 mark when the studio goes black except for you and the host - but knowing there are 500+ other people still there watching you that you can't see - can really give you the shakes!

Yes! Alan was the man. If it wasn't for that $100,000 question he may have made it to the million.
