www.amazon.com/Wants-Millionaire-Online-Game-Code/dp/B004WJ3WFAImagine my surprise when I stumbled upon this listing on Amazon. It's for a " Who Wants to Be a Millionaire online game code" for the PS3, and the listing is by Ludia. Furthermore, the release date is stated as being November 22, 2011. Certainly this has something to do with the upcoming PSN port/upgrade of Ludia's previous Millionaire game, but I really don't know what this "online game code" would be for. What does everyone think about this development? Any ideas what it could be used for? Also, do you think this is our first real indication of a release date for the PS3 version of the game?

Millionaire will likely be a PlayStation Network release instead of retail. That said, Amazon offers users to purchase codes for games and predefined money amounts if they can't add funds or buy them directly through the PlayStation Store. Buying the game code for Millionaire will give you a code you can use on PlayStation Store to download it. It pays to be a PlayStation fanboy ^_^
Also, I can confirm with pretty good accuracy the game will be based off the syndicated rule set, since a game trailer was released earlier this year on the Store featuring the syndicated set and game rules.

That trailer was released so long ago that I'm a little surprised at the November 22 release date. I waited for it to pop up in the Playstation Store every Tuesday this summer. Looks like we still have a long way to go.
Good job clearing up the mystery, though! I never released you could buy PSN games through Amazon. I guess we now have confirmation of not only a release date, but of the price, too!

I have a PS3. I have to admit, part of me was hoping Millionaire was going to be part of the "Welcome Back" package after the PSN hacking incident a few months ago.

I've actually never been much of an online multiplayer fan, so I don't think it would do either of you much good. However, if "Millionaire" ends up providing the online multiplayer experience that Ludia is promising, I think almost all PS3-owning site members will have to share PSN usernames.
