Ok so there has been over 1500+ contestants, and they all follow the same rules, 15 (14) questions, and alot of them would never make it to $50,000 (Round 2). So all those written $100,000-$1,000,000 questions were never seen, so here's my question, do they re-use these unseen questions to the next contestant? Because seriously writing over 1500+ million dollar questions seems unlikely to me especially when the million dollar questions are rarely seen.

There were identical categories for the MDQ in different games when they had a full category tree, so I would imagine so.

I was just thinking about this yesterday. What a coincidence.
As RyanZ said, during seasons 7 and 8, you would sometimes see an upper tier category resurface several episodes later if the contestant didn't get to see the question. Also, sometimes it would reappear in a slightly different form. I think it's likely that almost all of the unused questions are recycled, and that viewers (even diehard fans like us) rarely notice.
It's fun to ponder, though. Just how many backup questions do the writers create so that audiences don't realize that questions are being carried over? Furthermore, before the introduction of the categories, did the writers ever even need to write new questions? Is it possible that the same million dollar question sat on every contestant's money stack for months at a time until somebody got to see it?

Interesting points, Regisfan. I think I'm going to go ahead and submit this to see if it pops up in a future "Ask Meredith" segment. (If it does make its way into a YouTube video, I used a fake last name and city. )

That's interesting and a thought i've always had. Why not re-use them if they were never asked or answered.

Hell, even previously used questions have been recycled. I can't imagine why you WOULDN'T recycle unseen ones. Makes more sense than paying your writers to write a whole bunch more questions.

Recycling unused questions is a good idea...if Jeopardy can do that with its "Leftovers" category, why can't Millionaire?
