Chris Tarrant, the current and longtime host of the UK's millionaire has made a 100 pound bid (approx $127 million) on the rights to Millionaire. The full story can be seen here: buzzerblog.blogspot.com/2006/06/uk-who-wants-to-be-millionaire-host.htmlI personaly hope he wins the bidding war! That way, Millionaire will be in the hands of a trusting person who cares for the game instead of a large executive company.

Hmm... I like Endemol and Tarrant so whichever way it goes, I'm fine with it. Tarrant would be very good for the franchise, but Endemol might be able to do more with it.

Dutch Company Bids on "Who Wants to be a Millionaire?" Rights
With UK host Chris Tarrant already bidding on the rights to arguably the most popular show in the world, "Who Wants to be a Millionaire?", a second contender has come into public attention. The Dutch company 2 Way Traffic has placed a bid, making three companies publically in the running: 2 Way Traffic, Chris Tarrant's company, and "Deal or No Deal" production company Endemol.

Wow, let the bidding war begin! I still would like Chris Tarrant and his company to win the bidding battle, but at least three competitors shows that there is interest for the game!

Yes. I wonder if the company that actually wins the rights will DO anything with the show. I mean, I hope it doesn't get bought and then nothing is done with it, especially in the U.S. Maybe another network will pick up the new version.
Also, whoever buys the rights in the U.S. had better put Regis back on. I wonder if Endemol buys Millionaire, if it will be on NBC in a block with Deal or No Deal...
