Next week is Regis Philbin's final week hosting Live! with Regis and Kelly. The "Regis Farewell Celebration" has been both hilarious and very touching over the past few weeks of shows, and I highly encourage anyone who hasn't been watching to not only tune in for Regis' final five episodes, but also to catch up on the "Farewell Celebration" on the official Live! website. Although Regis has made it very clear that he isn't retiring from television, he is leaving the show that he has hosted nearly every weekday morning for almost three decades.
For anyone who has been tuning in to Regis as part of his or her morning ritual for any number of years, it's actually quite sad to see his time on Live! come to an end. Regis' personal style of hosting has led millions of fans, myself included, to consider him family. We've welcomed Regis into our homes each and every weekday morning, and in return we've been given years of warmth and laughter. It's been a fantastic journey on Live! for both Regis and his fans, and the time that he has spent on the show and his overall contribution to television are truly special.
Having personally met Regis and seen him tape his show in person, I can honestly say that he's one of the nicest and funniest people you'll ever meet, and he's a true television treasure. As a television era comes to a close on Friday with Regis' final farewell on Live!, I thought it would be nice to open up a thread to allow all of us fans to not only discuss Regis' final episodes, but also to share our appreciation for the man that has made us smile for so many years. So, consider this our own "Regis Farewell Celebration"!
Thanks for making us laugh, Regis! You are a true class act, and nobody tells a better story than you. Enjoy your final episodes on Live!, and good luck in all of your future endeavors!
