Today, "Wer wird Millionär?" had its 1000th show. They invited back three million euro winners (two celebrities and the last "ordinary" millionaire) who acted as a 5th lifeline to advise the contestants if they needed them.
Four contestants got to play the game. Three of them won €64,000, one won €125,000 (13 correct answers). At the end of the the show, they played another round of fastest finger first and the person who got it right the fastest was asked one more question for €1,000,000, at the risk of losing their earlier winnings and dropping down to the last milestone in case of a wrong answer. This was the question:
In 1000 episodes of "Wer wird Millionär?", what was the most frequent correct answer to a question?
A: Spain B: Goethe
C: Angela Merkel D: Blue

The woman who saw the question had won €64,000 earlier, but since she chose the risk format, she would drop down to only €500 if she gave an incorrect answer. She didn't want to risk it, which was good as her choice would have been wrong.
I would have hoped for some flashbacks about the history and great moments of the show, but they had already done that on the show's 10th anniversary celebration three years ago, so I guess they didn't want to show the same video clips again. Instead, they showed us a vid in which Millionaire hosts from all over the world, including Chris Tarrant, Gerry Scotti and many more, congratulated Günther Jauch on 1000 successful shows. That was a pretty great moment.
All in all, it was a great night. Congratulations Wer wird Millionä? and let's hope for another 1000 shows! ^^
Btw, for the next 7 days, the very first episode (at least parts of it) can be watched here: rtl-now.rtl.de/wer-wird-millionaer/1-sendung-vom-03091999.php?film_id=59792&player=1&season=0 I don't know if it's available outside of Germany/Austria/Switzerland, though.
