This year's Alzheimer's week raised $107,600 for the Association. Unfortunately, the celebrities this week didn't play as well as some of the celebs that played last year, but still, a lot of money was raised for a very worthy cause. Here's the breakdown:
Mon. Mo'nique: $10,000; Audience member: $1,000 & $1,000 for Alzheimer's Association Tues. Paula Deen's first day Wed. Paula Deen's 2nd day: $55,600 Thurs. Cheech Marin: $10,000; Jackee: $10,000 Fri. Tony Dovolani: $19,000; Audience member: $1,000

If I recall correctly, the lowest amount a celebrity can win for charity (by losing on the first ten questions) is $10,000 instead of the usual $1,000, right?

That's what I had thought as well. I guess it's because they don't want to make the celebrities look bad.

I believe they do the increase the guaranteed winnings because of course, it is for charity. At least it's $9,000 more donated to Alzheimer's association guaranteed. I do have to agree, I don't think this year's celebrity week was so great because, well we didn't have any big payoff's like last year. In fact, I don't think anyone made it to Round 2 At least it was nice to see Tony Dovolani on the show.

Actually, Paul Deen made it to round two with $55,600, but she did not attempt the $100,000 question, despite her reasoning being...well, not exactly sound, but right I suppose.
