Hi guys this is my first post and hope it is a good one. By now you guys have probably seen the video where the ATA data fails to show up on Chris' screen during "The People Play Special"on ITV,if you haven't then here is the video on youtube, I have heard from number of websites that in the rehearsals before the show they had the exact same problem as occurred during the show. So they put the cards under their seats so the producers had a backup plan if it did happen during the show. If this were to happen out of the blue in the American version lets say what would happen? Do the audience always have the cards under their seats or would the cameras stop rolling until the producers fixed the problem? Thanks for reading and hope I get to know the community better in the future.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong on this, but I get the feeling they'd stop rolling the cameras to fix it. It's nothing like the UK, US Millionaire isn't live, so they're nowhere near as pressured to use cards like in the clip, because they don't have to lose show time by fixing whatever's wrong right then and there.
Of course, that's just a (somewhat) educated guess, but hey, it's better than nothing!

That's would I would have said. As you said doctorwho there isn't as much pressure now in America because millionaire isn't live. However what would the case be if WWTBAM was still shown live?
I know that there is usually a few minutes gap between the the show been filmed live and being broadcast but this can't surely be enough time to fix a problem as big as the audience handsets not working. Surely the producers would take a commercial break while the engineers try to suss out the problem.
I believe the problem was caused by the old wired polling handsets being replaced with new wireless ones. Can anyone confirm this.
Has this problem ever occurred on any other versions of WWTBAM around the world?
