I sometimes wonder how they got away with using Windows XP icons as some of their buttons. Well, from what I see around the site, I don't see any of Windows XP icons, but the icons and buttons here looks like coming from XP! I don't really like that, though I'm still using XP right now. (I'm switching to Windows 7 Professional in a few days.) Anyway, I really love the current modern look of the site. Are there any Windows XP icons in the control panel of current version of ProBoards?

If you sign up for one of the original versions of Proboards, look at the buttons like Edit and Delete, you'll see they're indeed Windows XP icons. As for me, I'm still using Windows 2000 and have no plans of upgrading.
Anyway, I do like the look of the newer site. One of the reasons I stayed away from ProBoards in the past was because I thought it looked too childish and it really didn't have a lot of customization options. Looks like there's a lot more offered here now on our end as well as the admin panel as well.

Are you still at least upgrading your hardware as it becomes cheaper over time? like buying a 2005 processor now because it's so cheap to get.

It was when I began to look at the list of computers and related peripherals and compare prices and specifications! Are you looking for a late Pentium 4, a Pentium D or the first generation of Core 2 Duos?

I was just using 2005 as an example. I was talking about how you are still using Windows 2000 and the original hardware was really old and slow for today's times. My configuration has a Quad-core AMD FX processor.

Mine has an Intel Core 2 Quad Q8200. But it is a little bit slow for new large applications! So !Tommy, you have to buy a new computer. The current mainstream series (with integrated graphics) can even handle the current Photoshop and Flash on Windows 7!

My computer is from at least 2007 and has an Intel Core 2 processor in it along with 4GBs of RAM. I'm not outdated at all in fact. But I think if we want to continue this discussion, we should create a new thread in the general discussion so we don't spam this topic up.

Alrighty, we'll get another topic rolling in here. Since it was brought up in another thread I thought it would be interesting to start a computer related thread. So yes, I do run Windows 2000 on a Dell Vostro 400 mini tower. It's from about 2007 and I have a Intel Core 2 Duo at 2.66GHz, 4GBs of RAM, an nVIDIA 8600GT PCIe video card with 256MBs of RAM with a dual monitor configuration, a SoundBlaster X-Fi XtremeMusic sound card, the one thing I'm disappointed in is the internal 160GB hard drive which I've been wanting to upgrade many times but funds don't allow it at the time. I do have a 500GB external hooked up at all times though where all my personal stuff is kept. However, I'm also a member of another community called MSFN which I even have a link to in my profile. There are TONS of people there that have their own projects going on. One of the ones I'm following and even contributing to are the ones for unofficial Windows 2000 updates. With these, I've added new driver functionality, new extensions for applications, and there's even an experimental PAE addition going on. Even though it doesn't have the full functionality as say Windows 7 does (which I really don't like Win7 in fact ) but it does have more functionality than Windows XP does and we're also working on getting it up to Windows Vista's level. I'm sure you guys know certain limitations with programs and that they require Windows XP or higher to run. The programs that require at least Windows XP that I'm running right now are Google Chrome (latest version), Office 2007, Skype 6, Google Talk, Corel VideoStudio X2 Pro, Microsoft Virtual PC, Windows Movie Maker 2.6, Windows Media Player 11, and Windows Defender (not the beta, also fully updated). That's what I have on my computer as of right now that requires a newer version of Windows. Anyway, I'd really love to hear input from you guys! I think this might be fun.

Would you like me to move the other discussion posts from the other topic here?

That would probably be awesome, that way it keeps the other topic nice and tidy.
