After 3 abysmal week of Who Wants to be a Millionaire- The People Play not a single person was able to reach the £50,000 safety point. I really did not enjoy the past 3 weeks, I used to always be excited when Millionaire was on but the recent PP episodes were painful to watch. It got me thinking does anybody else think this is the end of the show for the non-celebrity? I wonder how the producers picked the contestants for the show, most the questions were straightforward but can see how the pressure got to them in the Hot Seat. You would want to think the producer would at least pick one contestant capable of going far up the money tree. I really can see how the excitement could ever be brought back, is it true that Millionaire has gone stale. As Adasiekkk said the the shoutbox, I fully agree here, I really ejoy watching the classic episodes on Challenge. It was simply more entertaining. I like the clock format but it does limit how much Chris can joke and interact with the contestant during the question. I truly hope that this is not the end of my favourite game show... PYLguy

It could just be that the UK civilians are becoming stupider. I was absolutely appalled at the use of lifelines on probably the most simplest of questions. I mean, everyone knows a standard registration number is 7, why on earth did he ask the audience! And then, Hollywood Ending too, my god!
What we really need are some more older contestants. They seem to be the more knowledgeable ones. It seems that people in this generation (20-30 years old) don't seem to know much and are just "lucky" to get into the hot seat through the questions asked before to them. The one I was most appalled at was Madge, the last one. I was screaming Ontario, and instead, he doesn't use his last lifeline and goes for a complete guess, which ultimately made him loose £19,000.
Perhaps they should remove the clock. Maybe that puts contestants off. But whatever the case, watching Who Wants To Be A Millionaire was painful.

I was reading on some forum that people where getting tired of the contestants being "old, fat pub quizzers" obviously the producers took that to heart and are trying to entice the younger generations to take part. I wonder who the question writers where this time, the chose some rather simple questions.
As for the clock I Chris said talking about a woman who spent almost an hour trying to work out if she should risk her money. Ultimately the clock does help Millionaire to become more entertaining but I think the contestants are too busy looking at the clock instead of thinking about the question.

Still being in high school, I can say that yes teenagers are getting dumber and that general knowledge doesnt really appeal to them. But I think that maybe increasing the time on the clock is a better move as most people I think panic when they are getting close to that 15-20 second mark. And for the love of god, PUT MORE NORMAL PEOPLE ON THE FREAKING SHOW!!!! Having celebrities on it doesn't all ways mean TV gold because every other damn show is doing it as well! Sorry for the outburst -Kimarough

I don't live in the UK so I would had to watch it on YouTube or find an online stream if I was able to watch is live. I watched the episodes on YouTube this time and what killed me is that there were so many incorrect answers. I thought "what is going on". I even noticed that the ratings in the people play and celebrity shows in this year 2013 have been increasingly low in fact the show hasn't even made ITV's Top 30 rankings all year. I just hope the show can start to change things up a bit in effort to keep the show running.

I think I feel more sorry for Chris Tarrant. He clearly knows half of the answers himself and has to put with up with saying "oh you've just lost £19,000!"

Poor Chris. All the people he has to deal with and most of them cant even get past question 4 with out using 2 or more lifelines! Has he ever been in the hot seat?
