According to gameshownewsnet.com, Katic Couric officially announced that she would be leaving the Today show. Reports also conclude that Meredith will definitely replace her as morning host. This means that she would definitely leave The View to host the Today show. However, no word has been posted on whether or not she will continue to host Millionaire. If she does leave, who should fill the position? I'm interested to hear everyone's input on this entire topic.

I'll be darn surprised if she does triple duty (Today show on NBC, The View on ABC, and Millionaire).
Will she be the first woman to do news stuff at each of the Big 3 (as you know from '89-'93, she was a 60 Minutes correspondent)?

In my opinion, if Meredith does leave I would like to see a man replace her...someone who can bring more life to Millionaire (akin to Regis although I don't see anyone that could ever top Regis as host--he was the first one and he made Millionaire such an AWESOME hit when it first came out in '99). Don't get me wrong I think Meredith is okay but she is NOT no Regis.

Her contract to host Millionaire has two more years to go, however, and it has not been settled whether she will continue hosting it. I think it would be very difficult for her to do so considering that she has to wake up in the middle of the night, around 2:30 in the morning for Today and the show is on until 10 a.m. EST. On Millionaire tape days, she would then have to go over to ABC and tape until about 6 p.m. or maybe longer. |

I think she'll finish this season, and then leave. It would be too stressful to host both shows- The Today Show is a bit more work than the View. I think she's pretty much done with Millionaire.
I'll keep my fingers crossed for Regis's return, although we all know that won't happen.

Okie-doke, just read on Steve Beverly's site (tvgameshows.net), that Meredith is staying put with Millionaire.

All righty then! I guess we can ignore this topic all together and wish Meredith luck for a two-peat as Outstanding Game Show host at the Daytime Emmys and for two more years with Millionaire! ;D

Yeah, I realized she wouldn't be leaving after I remembered that she is [glow=red,2,300]executive producer[/glow] of Millionaire. I think she's really attached to WWTBAM.
