This is an idea I got from Buy A Vowel Boards. With their games, in the event that a player has to be absent for a certain amount of time, all they do is leave a post stating that they will be gone, and it can be viewed by all members of the site so that people who are running the game know. This would be better than announcing it in the ShoutBox because that place is really a ClutterBox, and it would be better than announcing in the game's thread because it will probably be lost by all the other posts in that game. At least having one central area where you can announce your absence is a lot more organized and neat. What do you guys think?

This is a great idea, and I'm very open to starting up an absence thread when we begin the next RPG.
That begins said, it doesn't solve the problem of people just disappearing for weeks or months at a time. I have a feeling that the people who just vanish aren't going to make a post in the absence thread and let everyone know that they're going to completely derail the RPG before they disappear.
I think that the RPGs need a rule similar to the one that we just put in place for Daily Millionaire - if you're a participant and you do not play for several days, someone else has the right to step in and take over your role. I'm flooded with PMs from people asking if they can participate in the RPG. If somebody drops the ball and vanishes, surely one of those eager beavers should get the chance to play.
Also, I think we need to put a cap on the number of contestants for any given RPG. One or two contestants max is sufficient before somebody else should have the chance to host his or her own game. Also, I think we're done with video-based RPGs. I have a feeling that the time, effort, and equipment needed to make the videos was one of the reasons that the last RPG moved along so slowly.

How about implementing something like a strike system (also from BAV boards)? The first offense is a warning, the second offense is a forced game-end, and a third offense is a suspension from playing the games.

IDK, maybe RegisFan sees it differently, but, to me, that kind of takes the fun out of the RPGs. I think the idea of a time limit for doing your "job" in the RPG is great. If we're going to have "3 strikes" anywhere, it should be in the auditions. 3 auditions is plenty of chances to get in. EDIT: I have no idea why it's not showing your quote -__-

I auditioned and got in on the first go. Why? Because I read the rules over and over again, knew exactly what I was doing and was an active member. I think people need to take the audition process much more seriously because people see it as just "a barrier", when it's not just that, it's the trust of established members too.
