I ended up finding two episodes of Millionaire UK from all the way back in early January 1999. The episodes below had some incredible firsts. I've sure got to thank toyotamaster790 for uploading them.

I think nobody should miss the opportunity to watch this Classic Millionaire, also from January '99.

You know something interesting about the early episodes? They removed the hot seat during fastest finger, then put it back in when it's time to play the main game. The US did that only in the first series, but left the hot seat as a permanent fixture for the remainder of it's entire run. Why did they take it off, and putting it back on?

I think they continued to do so for quite a while, Divvy. Most international versions of the show did the same thing. There's always a break from taping between announcing the winner of the FFF and walking towards the hot seat. The contestant is mic'd up and his friend or family member is seated in the designated area. So they had time to put the hot seat back in place.
Originally the host would stand in the center during the FFF, where the hot seat would otherwise be. That may be the original reason for removing the hot seat.

I think that the reason why they remove the hot seat during FFF is simply because it is not in use. Since the focal point of the game during FFF is on the sides of the arena, it is better to leave the centre empty rather than showing the hot seat which is useless during FFF. For me they remove it for aesthetic purposes only. millionairefan64 there is a hatch in the middle of the hot seat isle where all the cables are. The hot seat are only two screens connected to the media server. To make it work, they only need to plug the power outlet of the screens and the cable for the video feed. In most countries, the entire set is built before and removed after the taping sessions as the studio in which the set is located is used for other TV shows. I am not sure if the original US set stayed in place for years without being removed and rebuilt at some point. You can see the technicians bringing the hot seat on the set and installing it in the first seconds of the music video for "Is that your final answer?", the WWTBAM single. www.youtube.com/watch?v=UL6NmXgFXBgIdolsfan

LOL like the actual phone they use for Phone a Friend? Looks like a phone one of the producers took from his kid's toy bin the day of the taping

It's a literal PHONE a Friend!! A weird thing I heard was when he locks in his answer for the 64,000 pound question, a very different answer selection sound is heard. Could anybody clarify on that?

It's been discussed on here before. The producers most likely remixed that cue to differentiate that cue from the Q6 Final Answer cue since they originally used the same cue. Zachary wwtbamfan

Zachary wwtbamfan No, it's an official cue from the Strachans but as seeing that they don't distribute the Millionaire music anymore, it's highly unlikely we'll come across a master quality of those 5 cues.

It's an official cue? Whoops, my mistake! But very interesting... Also, did anyone notice that after someone wins the graphic would have a money value without commas? For example, £1000 instead of £1,000, etc. They later changed it, but did anyone know when? I wonder why they did it the way they did... Zachary wwtbamfan
