According to several sources regarding the filming of the new season of Millionaire, it seems that the AOL Instant Messaging portion of the "Ask the Audience" lifeline has been removed from the game for the new season.
As far as I'm concerned, I had a lot of fun being a part of the show, and I hope it returns. It is most likely that AOL dropped their sponsorship of Millionaire, rather than Millionaire just ending the program on their own. Still, with Millionaire growing in popularity, I don't see why AOL would pull out so suddenly.
Only time will tell, as Millionaire begins it's new season on September 11.

I heard this too and it really stinks. The AOL audience lifeline was very important during gameplay. Sometimes, the audience hears which answer the contestant is leaning towards and votes that way. The AOL audience on the other hand, does not know what is going on in the studio and it is a pure survey. This lifeline and feature will be greatly missed if not brought back.

Then again, they can bring in the Enhanced TV thing and let us play along while we watch, or at least get AOL to do it.
