Found these laying around. Thought I'd throw them up for fun; these were the good ole days. Now Disney is boring, lol. Mech

...and the rest. The host in the picture used the recording from the show in his demo reel for future TV stuff. I guess they did in fact sometimes record the game.

I wonder the clocked version apperances earlier than 2008(Of course not, this is not a TV game. ). If you find the video, it very been very good, but I don't think when you have one.

It's very interesting to see that the classic graphics were animated for the play it version while they are still for the real version of the show. Idolsfan

It's fascinating to think that "Play It!" was basically a fully operational TV studio inside the park. No wonder they filmed so many episodes of syndicated WWTBAM there. Most of the required tech was already in place!

I don't remember where I heard it...or how true it is...but supposedly they aired "episodes" from the Play-it on a certain channel at the hotels around Disneyworld.

Since we're on the topic, here is a blog post about Play It! from a writer on the show.Considering it was legitimate studio, I wonder what they did with all of the equipment, and what happened to the staff members who had production roles? Also, I wonder where the tapes of the recorded shows lie today. ------ Millionaire should never had left. I understand Toy Story Mania needed a place to stay, but why shaft Mil out of every other attraction in all of DisneyWorld? A brand like Toy Story can fit anywhere in Disneyworld because it is a Disney-specific brand. Millionaire, on the other hand, would only make sense to be put in MGM Studios. If it were up to me, I would have got rid of the Winnie The Pooh ride at Magic Kingdom, which has enough space to hold TYM and is already built-in with karts. Honestly, the Millionaire attraction could have even given the real show a bit more of a push with popularity if it were still around today.

It broke ...a lot. Some of the things I witnessed: * On-screen overlay graphics bugged and were coming up as lozenge-shaped TV static in the middle of the show with the technician frantically trying to improvise a solution (dedicating the bottom 3rd of the screen to a black background that the overlays would appear on, instead of being transparent). Five consecutive shows were canceled before it was fixed. * Entire system shutting down mid-show and needing to be restarted - host stalls for time with "singing contests" * Contestant's microphone not working * Audience member keypads not working (frequent) * Fastest Finger results coming up blank * Ask the Audience results not showing up or being calculated (sucks to be you) False. I asked if they ever considered doing this and it was an immediate no. Most of their equipment was pretty low-grade from the looks of it. The only direct-feed outside of the studio was in the backstage room that contestants went to when they finished playing to fill out tax paperwork and get their prizes. The picture was pretty distorted and ridden with static, and it was setup only feet away from the main studio. It was all transferred to a third party company that buys/acquires props from old attractions. That company sold off all of the pieces on eBay. You can occasionally find an audience member keypad still around. The hot seat was won by Jeff Gross (this guy: www.youtube.com/watch?v=-jSWKKtQ2_M ) for just over $400. /edit/ If you're referring to the actual production equipment like cameras and whatnot, then it's likely recycled into other uses within the Disney company. The article you posted pretty much sums it up. The attraction was opened because of the popularity of the show. When that popularity declined the attraction was put up on the chopping block. "Entertainment offerings like Millionaire are never intended to be permanent additions to the parks."

It's nice to see more clips of Millionaire Play it! surface. I remember back in 2006 when the attraction was about to close, my brother would constantly beg for my parents to go to Disney Hollywood Studios (back then MGM Studios) to at least experience Play it! He wanted it to be a "vacation before school starts" sort of trip. But unfortunately we were never able to go that time. I can't remember the specific reason why.. I think its because of bad planning due to the closing day being close to school starting and how my brother asked on such short notice? But I think it had to do with us not having enough money to go. But thanks a lot of the pictures and video links, Mech. It was nice to see these!
