Although he was rumored to have the job as soon as reports of Cedric's departure began to appear, Terry Crews has now officially been named the next host of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire. Also joining the series is James Rowley, who will be the show's new producer. With new producers often come new directions, so perhaps we will be seeing even more changes to Millionaire as the production moves to Connecticut next season. Personally, I'm excited for both additions. I think the show could definitely use a new direction creatively (or, rather, a much-needed return to the direction that worked so well for the series in the classic era), so a new producer is probably a good thing. I also think that Terry is a better fit for the format than Cedric. Whereas I think Cedric doesn't take the job too seriously sometimes, I believe that Terry will bring a higher level of drama to his hosting duties while still managing to be funny and engaging. This is all wishful thinking, of course, but I'm optimistic that he'll be a good fit for the show. We'll find out in the fall, of course. Until then, we can only speculate! |

While I'm looking forward to Terry hosting Millionaire, I wonder if James Rowley can help out the show. I'll be honest, I've never heard of him but the creative changes he might bring hopefully will work out well, OR as RegisFan said, return Millionaire to it's roots with 15 un-shuffled, un-timed questions and most importantly, a dark studio.
When Josina and Chip went for their million dollar questions, it just wasn't the same with their surroundings not eerily darkened with heartbeat music anymore.
All in all, we'll see what Terry and James shall do for my most favorite game show.

Been a fan of Millionaire since it's USA debut. I have many Millionaire "toys" but my favorite is my original fastest finger chair from the Disney Play IT! attraction. If Millionaire made it, I have it. I also have a huge subway poster from New York advertising the beginning of the syndicated version. I decided to sign up for this site today and am looking forward to interacting with people that have as much passion for this show as I do. I agree with Millionaire1999's statement that the studio needs to be darker. I have been tweeting this to MillionaireTV for a long time.
I am also looking forward to Terry hosing Millionaire. Meredith was wonderful and I still miss her. However, I think that Terry will do a good job. I like Cedric as well too. He noticed what a big fan I am of the show from twitter and sent me an autograph in the mail as well as a follow. Very nice and humble guy. I will miss him.
Anyway, I look forward to meeting you guys!

Cedric was a good man. Terry will be great too. He's an entertaining fellow. I'm most interested in the format they'll be using. I personally cannot stand the shuffle format. The show's popularity cratered in my area upon the switch and was dropped from local stations soon after. I miss the tension. Here's hoping for positive changes. ^_^

I hope this brings some ratings...I don't want to sound bad but I hope this won't be the end of Millionaire.
