Hey all,
I'm leaving this Sunday to Stamford, CT to attend a taping for the new season of "Millionaire" with a friend of mine. I'm also gonna audition to be a contestant. Stay tuned for updates.

Okay everybody, I just came home from an exciting day. Terry is a funny host, and a great dancer. More importantly, he's very engaging to the contestants, audience and viewers at home. They're still doing the Thousandaire game if there is time, and a new feature called Fastest Feet, where four audience members have 60 seconds to put four answers in the correct order (Ala The Race Game from The Price is Right.) They will keep moving around until time is up or if they are right, netting $250 for each of the four players.
I will talk about my personal experience in the Millionaire Experience section, which I STRONGLY encourage everyone to read. ;-)

Are there any changes to the show's presentation this year? New graphics or music cues, perhaps?

It's all the same. Oh I forgot, they no longer show the categories. My guess is because of the "plus one" lifeline.

That's strange. I thought that the point of showing the categories in this format was to prove that the questions were actually being randomized.

Oh I didn't hear that! But it's totally possible! I haven't watched an entire show...let alone the credits...for a long while.

When the categories were first introduced I was expecting contestants to plan lifeline usage around them as a kind of strategy. Thinking back, I can't recall any contestants actually doing that with any regularity, or at least verbalizing their thoughts about it.
Just as well, the categories quickly became excessively vague with off-the-wall meanings that offered virtually no help for the question in advance. Much like how "Shock Therapy" would lead me to think the question was about old experimental treatments on asylum patients, but would instead ask which politician electrocuted himself in a bizarre mishap involving a turkey sandwich and an extension cord.

Probably another genius idea by Rich Sirop. I thought Rich left a year or two ago? I thought the upcoming season marked the end of his reign. If he left earlier than this year, I was unaware. It will take some time to undo the damage he's done. |

Figured it out. Watched the credits today. Rich was the EP through the end of the last season (or at least through today's episode lol) and then I saw a vid Millionaire posted YT and it showed a different guy's name as EP. Logic tells me last season ended his reign.
Unless they go back to a hotseat (and not the hotseat version...ew), then I can't see how his damage won't ever be un-done. :/

A lot of Sirop's damage, for me at least, has to do with the way the show is presented. The show has been stripped of its drama. The set is much too bright, and the music for Round 1 (which, let's face it, is what we're watching 99% of the time) is so bland. I think if we took the current format and dressed it up like the old format, most of us wouldn't mind so much. Somehow, Sirop managed to convince everyone that the show should have the complete opposite atmosphere of what it should have.
