Hey everyone, So I was looking through some of my favourite Millionaire clips the other day when I realized - what contestants have I not liked? Now since I only watch the UK version of Millionaire, I have a far smaller group of people to focus on so this post is more geared toward people who watch multiple versions of Millionaire. For me, there's only been one contestant who I haven't liked ever in the UK version's history. Jaden mentioned this in a post a couple of days ago. Yup, it's this guy: www.youtube.com/watch?v=C5QLfnMBg_wSo, has there been anyone on Millionaire that you haven't liked? I'm interested to hear your thoughts.

Those who love the clock format will quite possibly know who I am talking about instantly... It would have to be Ken Basin for me, I thought in my opinion he was a very cocky person especially the line "C, Final Answer give me a million dollars." His biggest mistake was being arrogant & saying "final answer" almost instantly. Once you say that, your out of there! Sometimes the host will try to hint that maybe you should pick something else. But it was too late. He still had 1 minute, 22 seconds of banked time to think about the answer carefully. This video is very hard to watch but his attitude kind of made me say suffer. He appears completely aware of the idea that risking 500,000 dollars on a 1/4 / 25% wild guess is stupid and ridiculous, and yet simultaneously completely unconscious of this fact. Sorry Ken. On the other hand as Regis rightly pointed out, he is only 24 and has years of life ahead of him. As a lawyer, he will earn a good amount of salary and clearly is an intelligent person. I wish him all the best for the future. Also the moral of the story is that you should only answer if you are certain and Ask the Audience are hardly ever trustworthy in the last tier. I mentioned hardly because I know you will be talking about Bernie Cullen and his airplane registration question. VIDEO: HIS MILLION DOLLAR QUESTION www.youtube.com/watch?v=RBYRpnWJ6hQ

VIDEO: HIS MILLION DOLLAR QUESTION www.youtube.com/watch?v=RBYRpnWJ6hQThis guy was quite arrogant, he seemed overconfident and didn't actually think about the amount of money involved. The audience reaction was quite unexpected as well. It was kind of a "Aw... clapclapclap" which is nothing compared to when Jackie and Laurence lost £468,000 on the celebrity version of Millionaire in the UK. Luckily, they were allowed to try again because that question was misleading, unlike Ken who just thought about what he could win compared to what he could lose. Regis was kind of the same "It was Fresca, but you still have $32,000" compared to Chris's shock when Jackie and Laurence lost. Again, Ken just became overconfident, possibly slightly nervous.

Charles Ingram. Can't stand Charles Ingram. Biggest POS in Millionaire history: Charles Ingram. Oh, did I mention how much I can't stand Charles Ingram? I don't think Charles is by any means a bad criminal in comparison to, say, a murderer. But he tried to steal, and got punished for it. I think however he had a lot of peer pressure put on him from his wife and his brother, but still, stealing a million is one bad feat indeed. I don't think he's a very evil, or necessarily bad, person, just very stupid.

Well, he did try to steal £1,000,000 on national television, but not as bad as a murderer, but still very very bad.

I can't disagree more about Ken Basin.
I've watched his game several times, and I just don't see anything I can call arrogant. All I'm seeing is a guy who's excited to be there, and getting more and more excited when he realizes he's on a pace to take down the million. I don't see any examples of arrogance from him. In fact, whenever Regis brings up Ken's Harvard education, Ken tries to downplay it and change the subject.
Ken said on his blog shortly after his show aired that his Q15 answer was not at all a "wild guess". He felt he was pretty confident in the answer, although he didn't discuss out loud on the air why he thought he was right. If I remember right, he put his confidence at about 80%, and he decided that with his current life situation, it was worth it to roll the dice. The fact is that Millionaire needs more contestants like him. We complain about the fact that nobody has won the game in regulation since 2002, but it's not gonna happen unless we get a player like Ken who isn't afraid to take the chance.
The idea that Regis was going to hint him away from the wrong answer if he didn't say "Final answer" so fast is just ludicrous.

On air, he didn't say look, I'm positive it's the correct answer. If he did, that would have been incredibly bad luck. But from what was witnessed it looked like a complete guess and that he was going for a million for the achievement of it, rather than thinking about what the money itself meant to his life. If he was in a bad life situation, fair enough, a million is a million.

If he was in a bad life situation, fair enough, a million is a million. Not a bad life situation, a good one. If you don't have a lot of debt, you don't have dependents and you've got some money squirreled away in the bank, you're in a better position to take some chances that you wouldn't otherwise. I believe Ken when he said he wasn't guessing, and I stand by my assessment of his play. Never. That's my point. Jaden tried to say that Regis would try to hint him away if he didn't lock in the answer so fast, which is silly.

Now to break this little tiff that is going on, here is a contestant I personally dislike: Lyn Payne www.youtube.com/watch?v=iIzjWsn62hwNow I have to give her credit, she is very intelligent and deserved to get to the Million Dollar question, BUT something erked me on her last question. The way that she makes herself sound intelligent and have an idea on what the answer was but not take it drove me the wrong way and made herself seem arrogant. Its not to say I didn't want her to win, I would of felt indifferent if she took the gamble and lost.

Kati Knudsen probably gets my vote too. You wanna talk about someone who was disregarding the money and just playing for the status, she admitted as much while she was playing her $250k question. Didn't help that she was a VERY sore loser.
I'm reminded of a contestant who, according to a tape report, rushed into a wrong answer, and proceeded to yell at Meredith for not slowing her down.
