Apparently the schedule has turned out a little too tough for Meredith! According to the most recent article on BuzzerBlog, Millionaire will be looking for celebrity hosts to fill in for Meredith while she takes time off to rest. Well my comment us: REGIS! DUH!!!

The whole article.
From New York Daily News: Turns out "Today" co-host Meredith Vieira won't be hosting every edition of the daytime show "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire" after all.
Producers of the popular syndicated program are now lining up a few celebrity guest hosts, a spokeswoman for the show confirmed yesterday. "They're just filling in for a couple of days," she added.
Names of the celebrity substitutes, and when they'll tape their episodes, wasn't disclosed. The time frame, the spokeswoman said, depends on the schedules of those being approached..
When Vieira took the "Today" job, she was under contract with Disney's Buena Vista Television to host the daytime version of "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire."
Vieira has often said how much she likes "Millionaire" and wanted to work out a deal where she could do both.
To accommodate Vieira's schedule, production on "Millionaire" began in late July, taping a few shows each day. As it is now, production for the entire season is scheduled to end the second week of December.
"We're still ironing out these details," the spokeswoman said. "There are just a few days we couldn't accommodate her schedule."
----------------------------
If they don't choose Regis, I will scream at the top of my lungs. New episodes of Millionaire with Regis would make my head spin. I think I'd even record them. Come on Buena Vista, remember who got you started!
Sadly, I'm sure they'll choose someone else from "Today" or "The View." Probably Barbara Walters.

Barbara Walters? That was my suggestion all along. Heck, it was my suggestion for her to host the daytime version if Reege wouldn't do it.

She'd be a good host. I'm kind of surprised they didn't choose her for the syndicated version after Regis declined, unless she turned them down.
They had better pick Regis. I know he'd do it, they just have to ask.

This just in! Tom Bergeron has been called up to host a week's worth of Millionaire! No news on taping dates yet!

Awesome! Although I would have preferred Reege, Tom Bergeron will make a great host. I've always enjoyed his work.

Another suggestion I'd make is Kenny Mayne, host of ESPN's 2-Minute Drill. Reege was a panelist on the Season 1 championship game on Christmas Day about 6 years ago (he and Kenny mentioned that there was a connection between Millionaire and Drill, that connection being that Executive Producer Michael Davies is involved in both shows).

A little late to the party, but Mayne is a great choice, as would Dan Parick.
But if Regis can do it for a short bit, please let him do so!
