We all know that the 15-question, three lifeline format of Millionaire is the most well known, well received format in the world, but which of these other formats is your personal favorite, USA's Shuffle, UK's 12-Question, or Australia's "Hot Seat" format? Personally, I love all 3 of them, but that's me.

Just a note. I believe Hot Seat has been used by other countries before we (Australia) adopted it. I would have to say my favorite alternative format is the UK 12 question then Hot Seat and then Shuffle but I would put shuffle at the very bottom.

I thought I read it on the Hot Seat Wikipedia article. There is certainly one other country that launched the same year as we did. The Hot Seat format should be noted as being a multi country format. I would consider it a spinoff almost since other countries use it's exact rules excluding money tree.

This page says Australia is the country of origin. Anyway, to answer gamecrazyh's question, I'd prefer the UK's 12 question format to the other two. I hate shuffle and hot seat versions.

I like it too. 12 questions to the million instead if 15 is a great concept!

I would say Hot Seat as the best and then shuffle followed by timed 12 Question. Reason why is that EVERYONE WALKED REALLY EARLY AND THE QUESTIONS WERE UNFAIRLY HARD!!

"Hot Seat", believe it or not, did *not* originate in Australia. The first country to use that format was Italy. however they didn't use the new graphics/soundtrack etc.
Personally, I like the 12-q format the most because it's most true to the original. Deciding which one of the other two is better (Hot Seat or Shuffle) is like trying to choose between Rebecca Black and Justin Bieber so I'll let myself pass on that one.

I have to go with either the Hot seat or the 12-question formats. Both are tied for number one. The shuffle format is just...awful. It's still good, just not GREAT.

Hot seat for me not good because of not enough players to finish a game . But 12 quesions its awesome.

I like the shuffle format because of its unpredictability, I like Hot Seat because there's 6 people participating in the same game instead of just 1, and I like the 12-Question format because it moves a lot quicker.

Nope, at the end of 2008/beginning of 2009 there was a version of "Chi vuol essere milionario?" called "Edizione Straordinaria". Australia then adopted it, gave it a new music package etc. etc. Here's a screenshot of the original Italian version
