Thursday night has been awesome thanks to Fox's new show BOOM! In this show, teams of 3 answer questions by cutting the wires of large bombs for cash. Giving a wrong answer disqualifies the contestant and sprays him/her with anything like pizza sauce, maple syrup, mac n cheese, and even beer. If all contestants are disqualified, the game is over. If the team makes it through 6 bombs, they will have the chance to defuse the Mega Money Bomb for 4x the amount of cash. If they fail, the team loses half of their money, but they have an option to leave with their bank before defusing the last bomb. Maximum potential amount a team can win is $500,000.
The show was fun and fast-paced. It was nothing like 5th Grader where the spoil the games and take 10 minutes to finish 1 or 2 questions. Tom Papa was an excellent host and I love how he would avoid the exploding bombs. The set was unique and having a splash zone for the bomb explosions was a great choice. There were a wide variety of general-knowledge questions from animated movies to politics. Basically, anyone can get at least one answer right.
Another thing I've noticed is that the app for the show has a feature that let's you play along with the game live. This was similar to the app used for last summer's singing competition, Rising Star, which let you vote for your favorite singers during their performances in real time.
I would like to give the show an 8. I have a feeling that this new show will stay for a while. Do you?
