Just had a thought while reading the audition requirements for Millionaire in the states. As is the case with most game shows, contestants for Millionaire must pay their entire way to audition for the show, after they fill out an audition form that the producers of the show approve. That's all fine and dandy, but when you stop to consider the amount of people who have to travel hundreds and thousands of miles just to hopefully get a shot at a million, it makes you wonder if they have had any thoughts of reaching out to people farther away.
My idea was if Millionaire had a traveling audition crew, similar to what Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune do periodically. It doesn't have to take place all the time, perhaps just a few times a year. What do you guys think?

I think they already attempt that..but fail miserably. They are never out on the west coast and haven't ever been, to my knowledge.

Are they doing travelling auditions for any theme weeks? When they were doing auditions here in Phoenix, they were also doing auditions for Movie Week.

I see where you're coming from, as it relates to COPPA, but it was for ages 11-16, so he (though not necessarily) could be in the clear here.

They were down in Miami, where I am for auditions. My friend's boyfriend apparently got called back for a shot to appear on the show. The only unfortunate thing is I don't keep up with Millionaire, so who knows if he got in. At least they will travel as far down as Miami, FL.

Heh, owning BAV, and modding at another game show forum gives you a good taste of things. Same job and all, you know? It's mod to mod mind power! More precisely, let's face it, this user isn't the most mature. So, what comes with maturity? Age, plus he mentioned auditioning for a children's week; this in turn is the focal point of COPPA. On the non-BAV forum, I don't have the ability to ban members, but we had this user who was 11, and simply would not go away, and the admins wouldn't ban him; took a good month or two to get him off the page. It eventually got to the point where I needed to bring up COPPA, with respect to its history and usage, exact wording, and precedent/punishment. Basically, what I found was that the Federal Trade Commission has penalties for noncompliance of this act, up to $11,000 per incident, and in March 2003, Mrs. Fields Cookies was fined $100,000, while Hershey Foods was fined $85,000 for their failure to follow this act.
