Hey y'all! Google didn't really help out too much, so I'm coming to the next best place to ask.
I've been trying to dig into some Wii games in order to find some goodies. Some are nice enough to include their stuff on the disc in an uncompressed format. This one, however, is causing me significant trouble.
I have two files: "bigfile0.dat" and "bigfile0.toc". First one contains all the stuff, the other is a 'table of contents' file. Classic trick with opening the .dat file as an archive achieved no results. Hence it seems that the file is encrypted, with the .toc file being the key to opening it up again.
I snooped around for some clues and found the following:
The folder in which the files are stored is called "vdb_NGC". vdb might stand for "virtual database", the significance of NGC is unknown but I do know that another game from the same publisher had a folder called "vdb_PC".
I'm not amazing with reading hex, but I tried giving it a go - the .dat file starts with the following sequence of characters: _NGCSD02. Google search yielded nothing.
HyperRipper seems to be able to find some jpgs hidden in the archive, these happen to be textures from the intro sequences before the game. It also found an "fli" file which is ~70MB in size. According to google, this is an animation format. However I haven't been able to investigate further into it.
I'd appreciate any help from anybody. Lemme know if you have any idea as to how to go about opening this.
