emoinuyasha , you know what? ... Let me remind you that the forum is equipped with an anti-bump device most commonly called : "Dead Thread Warning". I think that the wise choice would have been to create another thread instead of bumping this one. Again, not the best way to starting on this forum...

Evening everybody. It's been a while.
First and foremost, thank you all for having patience with me. Then there's the rest of you, who insist on bumping this thread. As a heads up and a reminder to the rules: If you see that gold bar warning on the top of this thread and your question is: "Where can I get the download link?" or "Is there any progress?" ... PLEASE DO NOT DO THIS. It's disruptive and you're not contributing to anything.... Seriously. This is one of those "We'll get there, when we get there" kind of deals and poking me trying to get an update (whether it be here, on my Twitch stream, in my Facebook, etc.) ... it is seriously NOT welcomed. (Also to you people that are taking my screenshots and either posting it to this board or some other board asking: "Who can make this for me?" etc. Seriously, stop.)
That being said, I know I've left this thread inactive and for the most part haven't been working on this code... stuff literally got in the way.
During my downtime, I've started going over stuff in the code... and scratched my head on how the hell did I even get this far. So I've started on it working on it again... and made significant changes.
Before I start explaining those changes, let me remind you... this is not one of those software where you can sit down and just plop it on. You need to actually CONFIGURE IT to work with your desired options.
So the question is what changed:
- First, the "New Game Form" has been changed. I felt it was too cluttered and there was things all over the place. It was a goal of mine to change it to a "wizard" (cause I thought it would load faster... heads up, it didn't :'D)
Here's the before:
And here's the After:
Much better, eh? As you can see, each part of the game setup is compartmentalized. But everything can still be pre-configured as a starting point by choosing to "Load" or "Save" the Ruleset as desired. (As a reminder, ruleset is Money Tree + Lifelines + Format + Game Options where as "Format" is just choosing Shuffle, Classic/Clock, Risk, Jackpot.) - "Wait why is Classic and Clock together?"
Because those two have been combined into ONE format, Classic. (Really, the only difference between Classic and Clock is that some questions are timed... others are not.) So now, the game will treat clock games as classic games but with a timer for those questions. (Those options will be in a separate window. I'll be back later (tonight? week?) to show the progress of that window, here.
- Here is a look at the new "Money Tree form":
Much sleeker and easy to work with if I'd say. You may notice that there is a separate column for "Prizes". If you remember in US Shuffle and US Classic Remix (Harrison), from time to time the producers added in a prize that you can win in place of certain amounts. That holds true here. You can designate anything as the "Prize". You can press a button on the Money Tree Controller to show the Prize Amount and you will be able to config the dollar value of that question. (My software mathematically does the math on total bank and how much is at risk or to be won instead of what some software does and requires to pre-define it.) Additionally, you'll notice that the tree also allows for Two Options. If you are familiar with Quiz $ Millionaire Super (Japan's "Super Millionaire"), you'll know that the last five questions are fixed at two answer choices. I'm still in the air on how to set that up. (Either a separate database of just two answer questions or just use the regular database but let you define the second answer choice.)
Other new things that I've worked on with this newer version: Above this is the new stack manager for setting up the game. You can either choose to pull a question of random difficulty or pull a specific question from the DB. (I still have to go back and make sure that you don't end up pulling two of the same question from the DB. You do still have the option to load a pre-made stack from the database.
The lifeline selector is also changed:
Again, easier to manage... and more visual. I know that if this was a production of sorts, you wouldn't need as much visual cues but... it can't hurt to have them. Here's the NEW chooser of the actual lifelines:
Again, just select the lifeline and the wizard takes care of the rest.
More new stuff.... and I'm probably insane for including it:
Yup. The brand new "Shuffle Game" configuration. If you notice, there are options to tweak the rules as necessary. You can go ahead and change how much "money" the contestant walks with during Classic Millionaire or Shuffle Millionaire or how much they receive in the event of a missed question. At some point, I'll go through and will change all of the numericals to show the currency sign in a future version.
Tonight, I'm working on the Clocked Game options and the Jackpot game options. From there it'll be a pass-over for me to make sure things are "ready" to tie into the game engine. (Game Engine being the way how graphics are going to be shown. I haven't decided on Unity Engine or Unreal Engine or GoDot Engine, etc.)
As a side effect of all these changes. Yes, it'll be possible to do shuffle AND clock games as one. (I'll be sure to add it graphically in a way that makes sense.)
When I'm done with the full console, but before I start graphics... I'll consider doing a concept test of the controller again for those to get a feel of it. The big thing to come will be to redo the entire "main controller" to work with the new options.
Still to come at some point (might miss the first release but will come soon):
- Fastest Finger (First) controller and database
- Hotseat Controller (yup... that Hotseat)
- Converting ALL of the Access Database to SQLite (too many people had a problem using the Access DB, so I'm just going to nuke it and use SQLite and pray for better access).
- Pre-load the database will the contents of the Who Wants To Be A Millionaire quiz book.
With that being said again, please DO NOT FLOOD THIS THREAD WITH "where's the download link?"...
Thanks for the support, and I hope to be back with an update soon.

Epic stuff! The interface makes it simple to manage the sheer configurability of the game modes.

Hey everyone, making more progress on this and some changes: - First, the program now understands how to properly set up foreign currencies where the currency is grouped by a space (Like $1 000 000 in some regions). So if you want to format the amount better, you can do so here. The currency setup is found in the Money Tree Configuration. - Speaking of Configuration, here is a change regarding the main controller screen: There is now a new functionality for the Money Tree Controller, and it's placed DIRECTLY on the main controller. The options still need to be coded in but it should be explanatory here. A few other changes: - Removed Mixer, SmashCast as Social Media options (Mixer closed last year and Smashcast closed before that) Still to come:
- Still have to do a bit of work on the TCP/IP coding. I have to make sure that this isn't "hackable" that is... someone sniffs the packets on the network and starts sending bad commands.) That's the next and last step before I start drawing in Unity. (Leaning heavily toward Unity for the engine. Flash Presenter is still an option (Flash .exes will still work but NOT .fla's but ehh.) - Still have to work in the Jackpot mode from Germany (the Zocker-Special). The rules are bit "hard" to configure... not sure where to store the running total. - I have to speed up the database commands. This will LITERALLY eat up 90 seconds when trying to do random questions. - Going to move away from .accdb (Access 2010) to something like .mdb (original Access) or even SQLite. I think the instructions last time were REALLY terrible and too many people had a hard time getting it to work. So I'll see
- MDI. Multiple Document Interface. Cause having modal windows all over the place is cumbersome. - Another beta of this mechanical controller will be coming during the summer, but I need help to determine how big are people's monitors. It's kind of annoying being constrained by the monitor sizes. I made the current controller fit max screen on an older laptop I had... but I have no real idea how big the screens some people use are. Some help here would be nice. - Localization. This is a pain. But a few people have asked for it and it would be a good add-on. (This is DEFINITIVELY planned for V2.) - Hot Seat. Self-explanatory, set for V2 release or maybe even V1 if I can get through graphic work fast. - Fastest Finger (First) Controller. This will is still being planned out. One version on Windows, one version on Android, and one version on a website. (Sidenote: F*** Apple, I'm not paying $100/yr for the developer license. Sorry to Apple iPad users) There's a chance I might use Microsoft's new WPF to do this. Don't know, this is later later later. While I'm talking about FFF, I will bring up that it will support both variants of questions. Either the original (pilot) version (first to lock in on the singular correct answer) or the 2nd version (put the four choices in order.) There is a 75% chance I might make the entire source code project open-source but keep the rights to the source to myself. But just help others out. Still looking into this. But obviously, if I do, it would be the controller only... and I'm not going to hand hold you to teach you VB. If I have anything else to report back on, I'll let you know

That helps. It's about what my screen uses now. Just need to know if people are using these sized screens or if there's people using the older ones. I also need to figure out then will I expand the size of the controller.

It's been a while. A lot of progress has been made on the software. I took a pause on mechanics, to work on graphics. Since each host screen has to support ALL versions of the show (ie. Classic needs to shuffle, Shuffle USA needs to support Classic, etc.) You may see some elements not "natural" to the original screen. I'm taking huge amounts of liberties with the screens. (So word to the wise, if you're gonna tell me "oh that was on the actual screen", go kick rocks.) (Also sorry for the annoying watermark, but last time I posted up on here, some had the fortitude to copy/paste my image and try to ask for assistance in duplicating it. Good times... That should also serve as a testament to how long I've been working on this.) More stuff to come, I'm probably going to come back and ask for assistance on lozenge making. (I would love to be able to create lozenges in this program by code, but for now, I'm stuck importing images.) I'll be back tomorrow to give a more in-depth overview to the controller aspect.
