I know the rule about double posting and why it's in place. (People will try to do anything to get into Fan Games including post whoring.)
The question is this:
Currently I'm running a journal thread in Creativity about my Millionaire programming attempts. I normally post up there and very little people post afterward. (They normally give me the nod via "Vote Up/Vote Down".) So at times, my post ended up doubling up over each other (usually hours/days apart). I'm just wondering if this is acceptable behavior or if I should instead go back and edit my would be post for that day into the previous entries thread instead? I know I would be warned/flagged if it was a rule violation but I'm just wondering if this behavior is okay or if I should just constantly keep updating that one thread (until its size limit) instead. All of the posts do provide new content of some kind.

I would personally say that if you double post just to bring updates to a project that you're doing, I would say that it's fine. I think the rule only really applies to people who are blatantly running up their post count and providing little to no content.

As long as your posts are adding new content to the thread, I don't see any problem with making successive posts of this nature. I would consider that to be a completely separate act from double posting. Double posting occurs when a user posts multiple times without adding value to the conversation.

I know this is an old thread but I was also wandering if we could get a rough clarification on time gaps to not be considered double posting. I am a moderator on another forum where replying to oneself more than 24 hours later is not generally considered a double post especially when done by a proven sensible user.

It's less about time gaps and more about content. If there's a logical reason for the same user to post multiple times in a row (such as providing updates on a project), then it's acceptable. If a user is just shooting off comments that could easily be combined into one post without any loss in meaning, that behavior would be considered a violation of the rules.
